I think we can officially confirm the existence of a “Trump bump.”

After President Donald Trump released a meme that featured an altered clip of “Photograph” by Nickelback that contained a picture of former VP Joe Biden with his son Hunter Biden and a Ukrainian gas executive, the song received something of a reawakening of attention.

While Twitter deleted the meme of Trump’s due to a copyright claim filed by Warner Media, it didn’t stop the song from achieving a second chance at mainstream relevance.

Billboard reported that the song’s download sales skyrocketed to over 500 percent:

The song earned 772,000 on-demand streams (audio and video combined) on Oct. 2-3, a 38% gain from the 558,000 it collected on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. (Streaming numbers include streams from sources like YouTube, Apple Music and Spotify, but not streams from videos shared directly via Twitter’s platform.)

Digital download sales of “Photograph” on Oct. 2-3 were up 569% over the previous two days. However, in both pairs of days, sales were still negligible. In total for the week ending Oct. 3, the song garnered 1,000 downloads.

While this is pretty amazing, it does leave Trump with a huge problem in that he made Nickelback more famous. This is clearly an impeachable offense and I imagine that there are very few people who would disagree with that. Mostly Canadians and Deadpool, who is also played by a Canadian.

This is also a bad day for Nickelback since their number two song of all time will now be associated with Joe Biden. I hope the resurgence of their song’s popularity is enough consolation for them.
