Um, Okay: DREAMers are Threatening to Leave the US if No DACA Deal is Reached

The March 5 deadline for a DACA deal is approaching and according to CNN, some DREAMers in the U.S. say that if congress can’t reach a deal to extend it, then they will pack their things and leave the country.

This is the threat of Venezuelans Alex and Daniela Velez. Daniela told CNN that she and her sister Alex are “over this,” and that “if DACA ends, I will leave with Alex. I will close my business, leave work and school.”

“I will leave,” said Alex, 19. “I will leave America as soon as possible. I want to be able to leave on my terms. I’m not going to be waiting for anyone to come for me.”

With all due respect to the Velez sisters, while I sympathize with their plight, they are here illegally and threatening to leave because we won’t protect them from the law, despite their illegality, isn’t exactly a threat anyone but Nancy Pelosi and her ilk will take seriously. According to her, DREAMers are her constituency.

Besides, it’s very likely that the Velez sisters aren’t going to leave anyway. At least southward. Their homeland of Venezuela is starving, and where there isn’t starvation there’s stuff on fire. The Velez sisters would likely to well to head north to Canada, where I hear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is all about welcoming anybody into the country, including former ISIS members.

So, ya know…watch out for that.
