The main story of the week centered on the big meeting at the White House with NATO leaders concerning a Ukraine-Russia peace deal. The interpretations and impressions by the press have been in direct opposition to the realities of the meeting. What has been made clear is that the press is very bothered that it could be President Trump achieving the goal of ending the conflict.
Meanwhile, .CNN's Brian Stelter avoided the good news and instead focused on the press conference, bemoaning that the supposed MAGA reporters are getting too much opportunity, and this leads to favorable coverage of the president. This is the same Stelter who had little to say when President Biden was proven to have scripted press conferences with questions fed to him ahead of time.
Also bothering the media has been the move to bring National Guard troops into Washington, D.C., to address the crime problem. That is correct – the press has been against the idea of curtailing crime. That these entreaties are not backed by facts has been amusing to see.
Then we close by revisiting the Paramount-CBS settlement with President Trump, as former network chief Shari Redstone reveals there was a previous issue with “60 Minutes” regarding a Joe Biden interview, one that appears to have also been altered in the editing room to favor the former president.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.
