There was expected and justified outrage in the wake of Tyre Nichols’s death, following his encounter with police. But then, as the press rushed into Memphis, they had to hit the brakes. Their pre-written racial lectures were compromised by the fact that the officers involved were black. Next came the strained attempt to claim systemic racism, and it has not gone well once we look at the actual system.
There was also the release of the police footage from the attack on Paul Pelosi, and the crew at the Washington Post expose the shifting stance on the story seen in the press. Aaron Blake looks back at the conspiracies but manages to only see those on the right making wild claims (the numerous press outlets calling it an attack by a conservative operative were excused). Then, Philip Bump joins in with a long screed against conspiracies — and then invokes Qanon, in an oblivious fashion.
Finally, we have many upset at Ron DeSantis for limiting a black history course in Florida. Mehdi Hasan takes in to a pathetic conclusion but gets an “A” for humorous outrage.
Now crack one open and savor some mainstream media mayhem and malpractice.

The new Ron DeSantis lie in the press.
After misrepresenting a course DeSantis taught (based on the word of one student) @MehdiRHasan claims FDE blocking one course is a 'Don't Say Black' law.
Ignorant he is, that DeSantis signed 2 laws requiring slavery be taught in FL schools. pic.twitter.com/UpDdZexF44— Lie-Able Sources (@LieAbleSources) January 31, 2023
