Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is Already Demanding Higher Pay, and Says She Will Become Corrupt if Not Rewarded

Alex

To say you deserve more pay to keep from becoming corrupted is a politically shallow shakedown.

To call Freshman Congress member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “brazen” is to traffic in redundancy. Since her arrival in D.C. she has moved between acting entitled to demanding obedience, well beyond her pay grade — and now she wants a higher pay grade as well. The subject of Congressional pay raises has come up and AOC, who has been on the job for mere months, is already stating she needs to be paid more. Maybe you can toss a hint of extortion in that mix as well.

If you have ever worked in an office you may have encountered this type. More than ambitious, a new arrival is brought in who questions methods and challenges protocols of a business that have been long established as successful. This person acts in a fashion as if they have all the answers, long before they have even heard all the questions. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is our Congressional new-hire, acting this way before even reading the employee handbook (in her case, the Constitution.)

When the issue was first brought up yesterday AOC did not demure as a new member, nor show any modesty, barely out of her probationary period. “It may not be politically popular to say but honestly this is why there’s so much pressure to turn to lobbying firms and to cash in on member service after people leave because precisely of this issue.”

Note what is not being suggested here. She is not living by her own lecture, suggesting everyone in Congress operate on a “living wage”, as she frequently promotes. It is not even about living expenses; her rationale is that they need more money to keep from straying towards special interests.

Seemingly someone got to her, and this morning she went on a stumbling twitter run that altered her message. In the end it only made her look more tone deaf on the issue, and more entitled.

At least now she attempted to include living expenses as a motivator behind the demand for more money. But note that hint, as a politician, of needing more money or else she will stray.

Yea, except we are not talking about “worker pay” now are we? She, being in the position of ruling and making new legislation, would be considered “management”. And what has been one of her standard complaints about business? The pay discrepancy between executives and the workers.

Alexandria’s current salary in Congress is $174,000. This is far greater than the US average salary of workers without a high school diploma ($27+K), or those who graduated high school ($37+K). Even looking at those with a college education she earns nearly triple the rate of $66+K annually. So here is the woman, who is concerned about the wage disparity, calling for herself to be granted an even higher salary, in direct opposition to her socialist bleatings.

To justify her demand AOC invokes the likelihood of politicians turning to outside interests, unless they get what is coming to them. The argument of “Pay us, or we’ll turn corrupt” is a disturbing piece of leverage for this newcomer to be invoking.

One of the many assured results of Socialist rulers is the corruption and graft taking place in the government. The people may starve, but 5-star meals will be had by the leadership. For Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the freshman in Congress who is an avowed promoter of socialist ideals, she is simply following that Socialist playbook. While she has spoken like a true statist when invoking the plight of workers she has also acted in true Socialist leader form.
