Top Harris Surrogate's Claim About Vance's Military Service Is So Disgusting Jim Acosta Has to Jump In

When a lie is told about a Republican that even Jim Acosta can't let slide, you know it was bad, and what top Kamala Harris surrogate Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) said on CNN was that egregious.

Appearing on Acosta's show Wednesday morning, Smith was trying to pump up Tim Walz, who was recently selected by Kamala Harris to be her running mate. She began describing the Minnesota governor's time in the National Guard (while leaving out one very important detail) and then snarked that she's "not aware of any military service that JD Vance has ever served."

SMITH: Well, here is Tim Walz who enlisted when he was 17 years old. He served in the National Guard for 24 years, and I'm not aware of any military service that JD Vance has ever served so let's just make the comparison there.

And, what happened in the tragedy of the killing of George Floyd and then the unrest..

ACOSTA: Well, he was in the Marines, but...

SMITH: Yeah, okay. Pardon me for that.

I'm struggling to even give Acosta credit here, given he waited so long to jump in, and he didn't press her on why she made the statement she made. Instead, he just let her keep rolling after a tepid correction.

With that said, I find this very illuminating. Think about the implications of this "mistake." Tina Smith, a major surrogate for Kamala Harris, is so insulated by the left-wing press bubble that she didn't even know Vance had served in the military and been deployed to Iraq. If all you do is consume CNN and MSNBC, why would you know that? They never talk about it, and they certainly aren't going to talk about the scandals surrounding Walz's military service, including his abandoning of his unit right before deployment.

Smith, who is Ivy League educated, is the picture of left-wing ignorance. It's obvious she rehearsed that line before going on air, ready to drop it for all the clapping seals she assumed would be in the audience. She didn't even bother to do any basic research on the man she was looking to slander, despite the fact that she serves with him in the Senate What does that say about her as a person? I'd suggest it says nothing good.

This is what happens when a nation's press decides to become sycophantic for one presidential ticket while obfuscating about the other side of the coin. I don't think Smith said what she said on purpose. I think she really is just that vapid and ill-informed, and despite Acosta's meek interjection, CNN is a big part of that.
