I knew the national press were deeply cynical and dishonest, but they are painting their masterpiece following Joe Biden's decision to step down as the 2024 Democratic Party presidential nominee. With Kamala Harris now all but certain to take up the mantle, her entire political career is being rewritten in real-time, and thanks to Axios, that's not just a rhetorical point. It's quite literal. 

As RedState reported earlier on Wednesday, the left-wing outlet published an article attacking Republicans for referring to Harris as the nation's "border czar." There was just one problem. Axios published an article in 2021 stating that she was.

What's the first rule of holes? Something about not digging any further? After getting caught with its pants down, Axios didn't step back and admit it got it wrong. Instead, it added an editor's note throwing itself under the bus for once referring to Harris as the "border czar." In other words, an entire article was written to claim Republicans were lying, and in the end, Axios had to admit it had reported the exact same thing. 

Hahahahaha. I don't mean to laugh, @StefWKight, but I think we got our answer. You see folks, Stef and other staff writers were lambasting the GOP for calling Harris the "border czar" when THEY WERE CALLING HERE THAT AS WELL! 🤣🤣

The facts are simple. Joe Biden specifically and directly put Kamala Harris in charge of the ongoing border crisis in 2021. That is not a Republican conspiracy theory. It's not a dishonest representation of what her role was and remains. Biden's words were not ambiguous, nor was the breadth of reporting in the aftermath praising Harris for taking on such a major role. 

Now that it's become clear she failed miserably at the task, the press wants to take it all back and pretend she holds no real responsibility for the disaster that continues to unfold. Call it Soviet, Orwellian, or worse, it's incredibly creepy to witness the lengths to which supposed "news" outlets are willing to go to protect Harris. This is not how the press is supposed to operate. 

Regardless, such stupid semantic games will not prevail. Harris is not a bystander. She is the vice president of one of the worst administrations in American history. Not only was she assigned the task of helping to solve the core issues plaguing the border (spoiler: she didn't), but she bears responsibility simply by way of the office she holds. The press can make themselves look ridiculous if they insist. No one is buying it.
