Things Get Spicy After Heckler Interrupts Ron DeSantis at New Hampshire Event

Things got spicy on Friday as Ron DeSantis delivered a speech during an event in New Hampshire. The newly-announced presidential candidate was faced with a heckler as he spoke against the proliferation of pornography and other harmful materials in school.

You’d think that would be a topic that everyone would agree on, but apparently, there are some on the left who are really committed to sexualizing children at all costs. Needless to say, DeSantis was having none of it when the woman in the crowd started shouting at him.

DESANTIS: Unfortunately, there’s bad stuff that is getting into the schools, there’s pornography that’s getting into the school. So parents have had to blow the whistle in Florida…

(Inaudible interruption by heckler)

Yeah, well, thank you, thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah…

(Crowd boos the heckler)

We’re not gonna let you impose an agenda on our kids. We’re gonna stand up for our kids! We’re gonna make sure to do it right! That’s what we’re going to do.

Those people like that in Florida are the people we beat every single day on policy. We do not let them win. We win all these battles, and we’re not letting them indoctrinate our kids. Not on our watch.

I couldn’t really make out what the heckler said, but I believe I heard the phrase “kid’s welfare.” Was this some COVID hysteric upset with the fact that DeSantis opened Florida up early on and forced schools to resume as early as any state in the union? Is that the harming of “kid’s welfare” she’s alluding to? It’s hard to say without someone in the room giving an account of what the woman specifically said.

Regardless, this is a winning issue, not just for DeSantis, but for all Republicans who are willing to seize it. Parental rights are at the forefront of concern for tens of millions of American voters. People want to know that their children are safe and aren’t being indoctrinated into delusional, dangerous ideologies like transgenderism. Certainly, they don’t want their kids viewing gay porn in their school’s library.

It’s crazy that we even have to fight these battles. How did we get to the point where a major political party has decided to die on the hill of exposing kids to comics of men performing oral sex on one another? Yet, here we are, having a knockdown, drag-out over protecting the basic innocence of children. Imagine being that woman in the crowd and deciding to heckle a politician for saying we don’t need to expose kids to pornography. The level of derangement is hard to fathom.

As to DeSantis’ response, I thought it was fine. I’m seeing some in the Trump camp suggest he’s too angry responding to the press and hecklers, but that’s hypocritical to the max given the former president’s penchant to lash out at reporters and protesters. Any Republican worth his salt should be ready to stand up for what is right. Taking it on the chin over a topic as important as preventing the sexualization of children is not acceptable.
