Joe Manchin Pathetically Tries to Flip the Script After Nuking His Career

Joe Manchin is really, really upset with the Biden administration, and he wants you to know it. You see, he got completely played when he voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, but he’s still a moderate who will stand up for the little guy and fight the good fight against the excesses of the far left.

At least, that’s the line Manchin went with on Monday evening while appearing on Fox News.

Part of me wanted to jump through the screen after watching that clip. Manchin is nothing if he isn’t shameless, and to see him try to flip the script like this is infuriating. Remember, we all warned him that Democrats would betray him if he passed the Inflation Reduction Act. We all told him it was a Green New Deal giveaway and that nothing he was promised in return would come to fruition.

Yet, Manchin decided to betray those who have had his back (namely, Republicans in the Senate), go back on his word, and vote to pass $800 billion in far-left goodies anyway. He owns that, and no amount of pathetic flailing after the fact will change reality. Certainly, threatening to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, which would now take a veto-proof majority that doesn’t exist, is not placating anyone. That’s like setting a house on fire and offering to bring over a glass of water. It’s a laughable assertion that testifies to how useless he truly is as a politician.

As I wrote shortly after he caved, his game of two-face is no longer going to work.

This man is just pathetic, at least as a politician. I’m sure he’s a nice guy personally, but his attempts to constantly play both sides are no longer fooling anyone. He wants to make $400 billion “climate change” deals while raising taxes on people making over $30,000 a year. Then he wants to be able to obfuscate about something as simple as his own party’s president running for reelection so he can go back to West Virginia to proclaim his independence.

Yeah, that’s not how any of this works. Manchin’s clown nose on, clown nose has grown old, and probably no more so than to those who stuck their neck out to vote for him in the reddest state in the union. He can’t pretend to be so severely moderate that he won’t even commit to supporting Joe Biden while then going off to betray his constituents, many of which rely on the fossil fuel industry, to please the Bernie bros.

I want to be clear just in case Manchin is still confused: There is no coming back from what he did. His career is over, and Republicans in the red state of West Virginia are going to make sure of that.

So he can appear on Fox News and throw his hands up, pretending he can be counted on to oppose the Democrat agenda, but everyone knows the truth because he showed it to them. He could have stood firm and not voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act. He could have chosen to stand by his friends who were counting on him to keep his word. He didn’t do those things, and now he will pay the price for his actions. Manchin should look at upgrading his houseboat because he’s going to be spending a lot of time on it after 2024.
