I regret to inform you that the libs are not alright.
Wajahat Ali, who often appears on MSNBC, had a mental breakdown over Nikki Haley’s candidacy on Sunday evening, labeling the 2024 presidential candidate as an “alpha-Karen with brown skin.” He also accused her of white supremacy and racism, among other niceties.
You can see the video on RealClearPolitics, but here’s some of the transcript.
WAJAHAT ALI: To quote Zora Neale Hurston, “not all skin-folk are kinfolk.”
Nikki Haley instead is the Dinesh D’Souza of Candace Owens. She’s the alpha-Karen with brown skin. And for white supremacists and racists, she is a perfect Manchurian candidate.
Instead of applauding her, I’m just disgusted by people like Nikki Haley who know better, whose parents were the beneficiaries of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, which passed due to those original BLM protesters and the Civil Rights Act.
I mentioned the dynamic before I saw Ali’s tirade, but this absolute meltdown over Nikki Haley saying America isn’t racist during her announcement speech is just a bit much, isn’t it? Imagine being so devoted to the idea that your own country is intrinsically evil, worthy only of constant condemnation, that you’d have a week-long political aneurism over someone not believing that. I mean, maybe you could justify a day or two, but Haley announced seven days ago.
I’m sitting here trying to decipher Ali’s stream of consciousness, and it’s quite a chore. Haley is the “Dinesh D’Souza of Candace Owens?” What exactly is that even supposed to mean given the ideological difference between those three? Is it an accusation that they are all race traitors?
Also, I’m going to have to throw a flag on the improper usage of the word “Karen.” I realize Ali is a rabid, deranged racist, but calling someone a “Karen” doesn’t work if you aren’t providing an example of actual “Karen” behavior. It’s just cringe and corny (and racist). I’m also thinking that white supremacists aren’t going to be getting behind Haley’s candidacy given she is most famous for removing the confederate flag from the South Carolina Capitol Building.
Remember, all of this was prompted because Haley had the sheer gall to suggest America as an institution is not racist. That’s quite literally all she did. It’s incredible to see the reactions from the race hustlers who feel so threatened by anyone who doesn’t share their narrative.
WAJAHAT ALI: Yet, what does she do, like all these model minorities, which by the way, is the strategy of white supremacy, to use Asians in particular as a cudgel against black folks? Instead of pulling us up from the bootstraps, we’re told to take our boot and put it on the neck of poor immigrants, refugees, and black folks. That’s what she did in her ad.
I see her, and I feel sad, because she uses her brown skin as a weapon against poor black folks and poor brown folks, and she uses her brown skin to launder white supremacist talking points.
What is this lunatic even talking about? It takes a certain form of clinical delusion to watch Haley’s announcement ad and interpret it as her wanting Asians to take their boots and stomp on the necks of “poor immigrants, refugees, and black folks.”
Ali was still going on Monday as well.
You aren't the country, Wajahat. You are just a racist. Singular.

My suspicion is that these kinds of attacks don’t land with anyone outside of the dedicated Joy Reid fanbase. It somewhat worked with Donald Trump, who is apt to get in the mud and provide his enemies with fodder (both a strength and a weakness at times). But when the foil is Nikki Haley, shouting at her that she’s David Duke in a skirt is the kind of thing that will make the vast majority of people roll their eyes.
I don’t think Haley is going to gain much traction in the primary (perhaps because she’s not going to get in the mud), but I think this episode is illustrative of a broader trend. Namely, that the left is overplaying its hand with the post-Trump generation of Republicans. They went so insane against Trump that when he’s not the target, it just comes across as laughably unhinged. There’s a reason the left’s constant accusations of racism against Ron DeSantis haven’t scathed him. The left’s crazy doesn’t hit the way it used to.
