While The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler, a supposed fact-checker, is hot on the case of trying to disprove Tim Scott’s family history during Jim Crow, other Democrats have just come right out with their racist attacks against the Republican Senator. One of those people was a Texas Democrat named Gary O’Connell.
As I wrote previously, upon seeing racist idiocy like “Uncle Tim” trend following Scott’s rebuttal to Joe Biden’s address to Congress, O’Connell handed his beer to Glenn Kessler, strapped on some water skis, and found the nearest shark to jump over (see Texas Democrat Says Hold My Beer on Racist Attacks of Tim Scott, Calls to Resign Begin).
“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” Lamar County Democratic Party chair Gary O’Connor wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post, referring to Scott’s rebuttal to President Biden’s Congressional address on Wednesday.
Imagine being so racist that you would accuse someone of being a secret white supremacist because they are black and don’t think like you? Unfortunately, that kind of mindset is all too common among those on the left.
Regardless, I was also struck by the lack of coverage such a clearly racist attack got. Remember, we have a news media that loses their mind when a random college student is spotted using the OK sign. But a Democrat calling a black Republican Senator an “oreo” doesn’t elicit a response?
Here’s that absurdity summed up in one tweet.
Can we talk about how absurd it is that a Democrat called Tim Scott an "oreo" and the national press aren't even mentioning it, but when some random college student makes an OK sign, it becomes a 48-hour news cycle?

I was actually being generous by saying “48-hour news cycle” there. CNN, hilariously, was still publishing op-eds about that incident a month later. Regardless, after the above tweet took off, I was curious just how well it was holding up. Had CNN and MSNBC covered the issue a day later at least?
Well, I looked, and the answer won’t surprise you.
A Democrat calling a black, Republican Senator an "oreo?" Not newsworthy. A random college kid using the OK sign at a football game? Newsworthy. pic.twitter.com/HxYTJek9JV

In summary, if you are still in school and play a game with your friends in which the use of the OK sign is prominent, CNN and MSNBC will smear you as a white supremacist, making your face go viral. Yet, if you are a Democrat politician making a blatantly racist attack on a Republican, it’s all gravy. The news media won’t even bother to report on it, and that goes past just the liberal cable news channels. The New York Times and The Washington Post also ignored the story.
Why? Because they are absolute hacks. I know that’s not news to anyone at this point, but it’s still worth chronicling.
