I’m not sure what’s worse here. That the woman saying this is admitting she doesn’t even know who will police crime after she voted to disband the police? Or that Wolf Blitzer just shrugs like it’s no big deal to not know that?

Lisa Bender, the president of the Minneapolis City Council, really wants to destroy her local police department. What she doesn’t know is essentially anything that comes after that.

The fact that this woman is an upper crust, white liberal who went to Berkley is almost too predictable at this point. Previously, in another appearance on CNN, she accused an anchor of demonstrating white privilege for wondering what happens if someone breaks into her house. Take every woke cliche and put it in a blender. You get Lisa Bender.

What’s really privilege here is Bender getting to lead a ridiculous charge like this while black Americans living in the most dangerous parts of her city have to suffer the consequences. Who’s going to be harmed and killed at the highest rates as a result of no (or “re-imagined”) policing? African-Americans. We’ve seen in it places like Baltimore, where the murder rate skyrocketed after police pulled back following the 2015 riots.

What this feels like is a city council that took things too far trying to appease the mob, and now they don’t know what to do. They might even be willing to backtrack if they could by adding nuance, but there’s noway they can. The mob would eat them alive so they might as well go all out.

You’d think Bender would have come up with at least some superficial answers for these obvious questions by now. But being woke means getting to mumble about privilege and CNN giving you a pass, so why put in the effort I suppose.

Regardless, we’ll find out soon enough what the true consequences of disbanding the police in Minneapolis are.
