If you haven’t heard already, the case against Michael Flynn for supposedly lying to the FBI has been dropped (see BREAKING: Huge DOJ Decision In Michael Flynn Case). This came at the request of the DOJ after new evidence of vast misconduct surrounding the case emerged last week.

In court documents being filed Thursday, the Justice Department said it is dropping the case “after a considered review of all the facts and circumstances of this case, including newly discovered and disclosed information.” The documents were obtained by The Associated Press.

The Justice Department said it had concluded that Flynn’s interview by the FBI was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn” and that the interview on January 24, 2017 was “conducted without any legitimate investigative basis.”

While this news broke, the President was in the middle of being questioned by the press. One reporter told him about the development in real-time and Trump absolutely went off in response. What follows is a 4-minute admonition of the Obama administration, the corruption at the FBI, and the media.

At one point, Trump goes so far as to call what happened to Flynn “treason.” While this doesn’t technically meet that definition, I frankly don’t care. What happened to Flynn was absolutely disgusting and a complete abuse of power. While aid to a foreign power may not have been involved, it certainly was part of a plot to undermine an election and damage Donald Trump. These prosecutors bankrupted Flynn and threatened his son to get him to plead guilty, all in pursuit of mythical Russian collusion.

Trump does not mince words, directly accusing the Obama administration of corruption and criminal behavior. He’s right on that front, as the plot to stop Flynn from gaining his position of NSA was obviously directed from the Obama White House. They knew that if Flynn assumed his position, all their malfeasance would be revealed. That’s where the “get him fired” revelations in the recent document dump come into play. This was always about politics.

There are a lot of people, including some who claim to be on the right, who owe Flynn an apology. The receipts have come due and it’s time to answer for their past statements. I’ll be putting a post together this evening that chronicles some of that, so be sure to keep an eye out.
