YouTube’s CEO went on CNN to chat with Brian Stelter yesterday about how her platform is handling “misinformation” about the Wuhan virus. The media’s hall monitor is always down for talk of censorship of anyone who disagrees with him and Susan Wojcicki was more than happy to throw some fodder his way.

But it’s the organization she’s choosing to use as the standard for “truth” that caught my ear.

Wojcicki explains that if you go against what the World Health Organization says, you will have your material removed from the platform. Sounds fine, right? I mean, it’s not like the WHO lied about the virus and parroted Chinese propaganda for months or anything. Obviously, we should totally trust them now and use them as a basis for squashing speech in the United States. And really, what’s so dangerous about telling people to take vitamin C?

It’s obvious why YouTube is doing this though. Yes, it’s about being woke. All these social media platforms are founded and run by liberals. But it’s also about not giving the administration any credit for anything. How hard would it be to just follow the CDC guidelines in their decision making? Or the guidelines put out by the White House formed by Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci? Instead, YouTube runs to cite the WHO instead because it provides them cover for their actions while signaling to their left-wing users how enlightened they are.

Does YouTube have the right to do whatever they want? To a large extent, sure. Does that mean we can’t object? Of course not, and it’s very disturbing to see so many “journalists” rushing to support these measures. It’s almost like they don’t care anything about freedom of speech or the press as long as they get to keep talking. Remember that the next time you hear them fret about people not respecting their profession.
