President Donald Trump caused a bit of a stir Thursday morning when, following his announcement of a major trade deal with the U.K., he took questions from reporters and, in the process, announced that he would be withdrawing the nomination of "Eagle" Ed Martin to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Not to fear, though, Martin has already found a new role in the administration: On Thursday evening, Trump announced that Martin would be serving in the Department of Justice "as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney."

Ed Martin has done an AMAZING job as interim U.S. Attorney, and will be moving to the Department of Justice as the new Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney. In these highly important roles, Ed will make sure we finally investigate the Weaponization of our Government under the Biden Regime, and provide much needed Justice for its victims. Congratulations Ed!

Not only that, but Trump has now named Jeanine Pirro to step in as interim U.S. Attorney for D.C.

Thom Tillis Really Won't Like Trump's Replacement Pick for Interim DC US Attorney

Trump appointed Martin as the Interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. the day he was inaugurated and announced his nomination to formally fill the role in mid-February. However, as we reported earlier this week, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) had declared he wouldn't support the nomination, and as one of the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, that effectively blocked Martin's nomination from advancing to the full Senate.

Shortly after Trump's announcement, Martin responded, signaling he's pleased with the move.

Martin followed that up with a post thanking the president, and vowing to "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Harmeet Dhillon, who now serves as the  United States Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, celebrated the move(s) as well:
