Bias: Reuters Hid Beto Hacking Story Before Election, CNN Shills in Defense

It never fails. Every single time the liberal media accuses someone else of doing something, they get caught doing the same thing.

In this case, a Reuters reporter found out that Beto O’Rourke was part of some weirdo hacking cult before his 2018 election against Sen. Ted Cruz. That probably would have been very useful to know while O’Rourke was running for the Senate. Yet, the Reuters reporter, a Mr. Joseph Menn, not only sat on the story, but even made a backroom deal with Beto himself not to reveal it until after the election took place.

At first, Menn made a silly excuse that he was holding the information back for a book.

This is nonsense. If that were true, then why did Menn reveal this information through a published Reuters report on Friday?

(Reuters) – Reuters reporter Joseph Menn exclusively revealed on Friday that Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke belonged to one of the best-known groups of computer hackers as a teenager.

This is a weak attempt to cover his own backside. He wanted to be first to break the story about Beto after he announced for President so he went ahead and did so on Friday. Then when it got out that he hid the story in 2018, he starts using his book as an excuse. It doesn’t add up. If he truly wanted to save it for his book he would have, you know, actually saved it for his book.

Secondly, even if it were true, it’s completely unethical to withhold information that could affect an election just to advance your own personal interests. If you want to be an author, then go be an author instead of pretending you are hard-hitting journalist. You can’t claim to be heroic “firefighter” out to reveal the truth and then say “welp, I’d rather make money on a book so forget about my duties as a reporter.”

Even worse, Reuters also confirmed that Menn had a personal deal with Beto to not report the information before election day.

After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018.

Again, this is highly unethical. How is this any different than a media outlet colluding with Donald Trump not to release damaging information before the 2016 election? There is no practical difference at all. Despite that, the media are doing the predictable thing and circling the wagons.

The media’s janitor got the call for the cleanup on aisle 8.

Don’t you see. We are just ignorant of how things work. What do you want? No books ever again, you regressive pleb?

Stelter is such a hack that he makes other hacks look fair. He spent days bashing Fox News over a false report that they held back the Stormy Daniels story for partisan reasons. As it turned out, the Fox employee who made the decision did so because of a lack of sourcing and because Stormy Daniels was denying it. Slate, a highly liberal outlet, also held the story back for lack of sourcing. Yet, here is Stelter (and by virtue CNN) carrying Menn’s water and pretending what he did wasn’t a huge breach of journalist standards.

Let’s be real. If Bret Baier had made a deal with Ted Cruz before the 2018 election, promising that he won’t release information about him before the vote, CNN, Stelter, and all the rest would be losing their minds. We already know that’d be their reaction based on how hard they went after Fox News over the Stormy Daniels situation, with CNN President Jeff Zucker publicly calling them “propaganda.”

But because a Democrat is involved and a fellow liberal journalist is the culprit, they just obfuscate and shill. The lack of self-awareness at CNN is mind-blowing.

These people aren’t journalists, they are activists. Republicans can keep pretending the media are fair arbiters at their own peril. The best way to fight back is to stop giving them what they want. Stop doing interviews with them, stop going on CNN, stop talking to The Washington Post, and stop giving press briefings for Jim Acosta to grandstand in. Starve them of content and attention. Will they scream about it? Yes, but who cares?

The bias within the media is only going to get worse as the 2020 election ramps up. It’s well past time to start giving these people the amount of respect they deserve. None.
