He’s an attorney who’s so annoying and obnoxious that the audience cheered at Sen. Rand Paul’s recent House Oversight Committee hearing on COVID when the Kentucky GOP senator had him booted from the proceedings due to his constant interruptions.
He’s David Schertler, the lawyer for the Face of the Pandemic, disgraced former Chief Medical Adviser to the President Dr. Anthony Fauci, and he’s been doing a lot of crying lately.
Schertler is big mad that Paul just referred The Fouch to the Department of Justice for contempt of Congress for taking the Fifth over a hundred times at the hearing, despite having a sweeping pardon from former President Joe Biden. He’s also got his knickers in a twist because NFL star Aaron Rodgers called Fauci a coward in an interview following the committee meeting.
We’ll start with the Rodgers story: As our Kyle Becker reported, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback “came out of the gates slinging darts on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday” and mocked Fauci’s Fifth Amendment fest:
"I’m gonna plead the Fifth," Rodgers quipped, "like that absolute coward Tony Fauci. Absolute coward. Are you kidding me? You get a pardon, and you pleaded over 100 times at the White House? What are you scared of, Tony? I thought you were the science. ‘I am science,’ and you get up there and can’t answer a question? What are we doing?"
He had more, but you get the idea — Rodgers is no fan of Fibbin’ Fauci. Schertler has major hurt feelings over the mockery, and in an email to The Athletic, he wrote: “Aaron Rodgers doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He should stick to football.”
Ooh! Good one. He really got him, didn’t he!
Actually, not so much. How about addressing what Rodgers was saying, which is that it’s beyond pathetic that the man who supposedly represents “The Science” won’t answer a single question from the American people, despite seemingly appearing on TV non-stop during the pandemic and delivering misinformation?
The New York Times framed the story as “Fauci’s lawyer fires back,” but there’s not much fire there. It seems more like a lame comeback from a ninth-grader who can’t come up with anything, so just blurts, “yeah, but your mama’s ugly.”

But wait, there’s more. Schertler’s also in a lather that Rand Paul is daring to call his client to account:

Yeah, sure, Mr. Attorney. But again, there’s a lot of victim-ing going on there, but nowhere in there did you answer a single substantive question. Why did Fauci refuse to testify? Is he sorry for peddling made-up scientific information to the public and ruining countless lives?
Fauci already looks bad, with his once-revered status now in shambles, but this guy isn’t helping his cause. Tony would be better off if Schertler followed his example and just stayed silent.
