President Trump had a vision for a grand ballroom, which it has lacked for its entire 233-year history, so of course leftist preservation groups and activist judges jumped in and have been throwing wrenches in the gears since construction started in September, 2025.
On Thursday, as RedState editor Susie Moore reported, an exclamation point-loving judge came down hard again, ruling that despite the administration arguing that it was a national security issue, construction aboveground must stop because it has not been congressionally approved! Construction underground is allowed to continue! he decreed.

The president has now responded, and he was not pleased with the jurist, who he said is “a man who has gone out of his way to undermine National Security”:
Trump pointed out that everything about the effort to stop the project appears politically-motivated, and has nothing to do with “preservation” or protecting historical buildings:
If somebody, especially one with no standing, had a complaint — Why wasn’t it filed many months earlier, long before Construction was started? The Public Record was open for all to see. Everybody knew that it was planned, and going to be built. This highly political Judge, and his illegal overreach, is out of control, and costing our Nation greatly. This is a mockery to our Court System!
I would add three words: “This just the latest mockery to our Court System!”
A search of RedState’s archives shows that we have written literally dozens of stories about the legal back and forth as judges have issued a dizzying array of rulings over the matter. Getting something done in D.C. seems to be harder than building anything in California — especially if you’re a conservative.
What I found fascinating about Trump’s post, however, is that he reiterated that the privately-funded project was always about much more than a banquet hall — it’s a massive security installation that would protect POTUS and other leaders during a major emergency. The president argued that the jurist, D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard Leon, is putting it all at risk:
…[He is] attempting to prevent future Presidents and World Leaders from having a safe and secure large scale Meeting Place, or Ballroom, one with Bomb Shelters, a State of the Art Hospital and Medical Facilities, Protective Partitioning, Top Secret Military Installations, Structures, and Equipment, Protective Missile Resistant Steel, Columns, Roofs, and Beams, Drone Proof Ceilings and Roofs, Military Grade Venting, and Bullet, Ballistic, and Blast Proof Glass —which all means that no future President, living in the White House without this Ballroom, can ever be Safe and Secure at Events, Future Inaugurations, or Global Summits. This Magnificent Space will allow them to carry out their vital duties as the Leader of our Nation. Furthermore, the Ballroom, which is being constructed on budget and ahead of schedule, is needed now.
Wow. Sounds like quite the building.
Unfortunately, with the Democrats in their current headspace and showing no signs of changing their ways, we live in Obstruction Nation. The administration has already filed an appeal of this ruling, and the wheels of lawfare will rumble on.
My guess is that one day, in the not-too-distant future, we’ll be looking at a grand new structure and all these malcontents will look like fools.
Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
