It’s Tax Day in America — but many hard-working people are finding it just a little less painful than usual, thanks to cuts provided for by the Big Beautiful Bill.
Democrats shriek about affordability, but then they get elected and immediately jack up taxes, fees, and anything else they can get their hands on. Think: New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who believes a $7 billion tax increase is a good idea, or Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger. While she has not personally proposed new taxes, her Democrat minions in the legislature have endorsed new fees on everything from dog walking to guns to dry cleaning.
The OBB cuts are making a difference, though, and while the mainstream anti-Trump media would love to turn a blind eye to it, even they can’t escape the story:

Finally, a Tax Day That Doesn’t Hurt
Let’s check one of these stories out, shall we? We’ll choose CBS News. They’re positively gushing:
As another Tax Day arrives, the average refund this year is $3,462, up 11%, or around $350, from 2025, according to IRS data.
"Aggregate refunds are up, average refunds are up, and clearly millions, if not tens of millions, of taxpayers are claiming one of the new deductions" under the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" enacted last year, Andrew Lautz, director of tax policy for the Bipartisan Policy Center, a nonpartisan think tank, told CBS News.
Deductions reduce a person's taxable income, which typically means they end up owing less to the IRS.
Oh, it must have hurt to type that one.
As of this writing, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Small Business Administration (SBA) head Kelly Loeffler are conducting a press briefing alongside White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. They like what they’re seeing:
