The accused assassin of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, is back in court Monday, and as has become commonplace, twisted fans of the 27-year-old dressed up in costumes and waited hours in line just to get a glimpse of their favorite “star.” Meanwhile, billboard trucks supporting Mangione appeared in the streets outside the courthouse.
It was a revolting scene.
The cold-blooded murder in midtown Manhattan occurred almost exactly a year ago, on December 4. Now, Mangione wants key evidence thrown out that was collected by the police who nabbed him in Altoona, Pennsylvania, five days after the shooting.
Mangione's lawyers are asking the court to suppress evidence collected during his arrest at a Pennsylvania McDonald's five days after the murder. The evidence includes physical evidence from a backpack, including the suspected murder weapon and his journals, as well as statements he made to police before they read him a Miranda warning.
The hearings are expected to run for several days, with a break on Wednesday.
Included in the evidence Mangione wants thrown out is the .9mm handgun that prosecutors say he used to carry out the killing and a notebook where he allegedly described his desire to “wack” a health-insurance executive.
Mangione, who Rolling Stone calls one of the "most divisive murder suspects of the decade," looked to be in remarkably good spirits for a guy who is accused of cowardly shooting a man he’d never even met in the back. Note the sick, fawning comment on this tweet:
Luigi Mangione stuns in this black undershirt, red checkered shirt, and gray jacket; he is so editorial! 🔥#LuigiMangione pic.twitter.com/1VG6BvXxCm

The social media poster was far from the only fan of Mangione:
Dozens of loony Luigi Mangione fans lined up in frigid temperatures outside a Manhattan court Monday in a desperate attempt to catch a glimpse of the alleged killer at his upcoming hearing.
Nearly 100 ghoulish supporters, including some dressed as the Luigi character from Super Mario, were spotted outside the court several hours before the Ivy League accused assassin was slated to appear before a judge.

As we reported, a judge unbelievably threw out state-level terror charges earlier this year, but Mangione still faces a slew of charges in New York as well as federal counts that could lead to the death penalty.

The public support for Mangione is yet another alarming symbol of the Left’s ongoing normalization of political violence. We’ve seen two assassination attempts on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, the brutal execution of Turning Point Co-Founder Charlie Kirk, and endless rhetoric implying or outright saying that domestic terrorism is OK if it’s done for the right cause. It’s hard to fathom what these fans — short for “fanatics” — were thinking over the Thanksgiving holiday as they pondered their glorification of an accused killer because he’s supposedly cute and because he realized something we all know: our health insurance system isn’t perfect.
Hardly a reason to kill an unsuspecting father of two.
I can’t argue with this post:
If you ever feel sad, just smile knowing that Luigi Mangione will die of old age in prison, and there is nothing that his mentally ill girly fan base can do about it 👍 pic.twitter.com/2VTzklnz3M
