The ongoing Jeffrey Epstein saga just keeps on destroying reputations and lives, but the Democrats continue to miss their target — Donald Trump. Instead, they keep turning a harsh spotlight on their own players, like former President Bill Clinton.
For instance, as we reported, newly released documents from the late convicted pedophile’s estate revealed that Democrat Delegate Stacey Plaskett of the U.S. Virgin Islands appeared to be texting him during a 2019 congressional hearing, well after he was a known convicted sex offender.
Watching Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his fellow Democrat, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), trying to explain that one away was comedic perfection.

On late Monday night, the scandal took down another prominent Democrat, Larry Summers, former Harvard president, treasury secretary under Bill Clinton, and onetime director of Obama’s National Economic Council. It would seem that Mr. Summers kept up a friendly relationship with Mr. Epstein long after the financier’s perverted proclivities were well known:
Larry Summers, the former president of Harvard University, has announced that he will step back from public commitments, according to the Ivy League college's student newspaper.
In a statement released Monday to The Harvard Crimson, Summers said it was part of an effort "to rebuild trust and repair relationships with the people closest to me."
The announcement follows the release of seven years’ worth of correspondence between Summers and the disgraced financier Jeffrey E. Epstein by the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
Seven years?! Not a good look.
Oh Shizzles 👀

Man, the news cycle coming out of Harvard — once considered one of the, if not the most, august institutions of higher education in the United States — has been nothing but really bad for the last few years. Add another black mark to the list.
Summers said he plans to continue teaching (incredibly), but will be removing himself from the public eye. If one of my children were ever at an institution teaching one of his courses, I'd just have to say, "Maybe just skip that one, kiddo."
“I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused. I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue communicating with Mr. Epstein,” Summers said. “While continuing to fulfill my teaching obligations, I will be stepping back from public commitments as one part of my broader effort to rebuild trust and repair relationships with the people closest to me.”
Summers is no stranger to controversy, but this one may be the most harmful one yet:
Summers resigned as Harvard’s president in 2006 under pressure amid multiple controversies, including his suggestion that men may perform better in the sciences because of genetic differences from women. He currently serves as the Charles W. Eliot University Professor at Harvard.
It's important to note that many, even on the conservative side, think those comments were taken out of context and that he was actually making a good point. But that's for another story.
The Epstein correspondence, however, is a different matter:
The House Oversight Committee released tens of thousands of pages of documents on Wednesday that it received from the Epstein estate. Included in the recent trove were numerous exchanges between Summers and Epstein between at least 2013 and 2019. Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to state charges in Florida of one count of solicitation of prostitution and one count of solicitation of prostitution with a minor.
Incredibly, the two even bantered about romantic advice, with Summers appearing to ask Epstein whether he should send a note to a woman he was interested in. Now that’s cringe. Mind you, this was after the Miami Herald had reported extensively on Epstein’s predilection for underage girls.
That one is going to be really hard to live down.
The Democrats are desperately trying to tie Trump to Jeffrey Epstein with numerous social media posts from high-profile Dem officials labelling the president a pedophile, yet all they seem to be succeeding in doing is taking down their own.

Keep at it, guys. It’s working out really well for you.
Summer’s predicament reminds me of those great Southwest commercials: sometimes, you just want to get away.
