Let’s face it, there’s a very good chance Vice President Kamala Harris could soon be “President Harris.” If Joe Biden wins reelection, it seems unlikely that he would be able to serve out his four-year term, given what we’ve seen from him lately. He seems dazed and confused most of the time and spends almost as many days vacationing as he does in the White House.

As terrible a president as he has been, Harris would be arguably worse. Her constant cackling and garbled word salads make it hard to imagine her being taken seriously on the world stage.

On Sunday, GOP candidate and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley sounded the alarm as she appeared on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

My concern is we cannot have Kamala Harris as president. We can’t chance this. We have to make sure that we have a new generational leader that’s going to bring in not only Republicans, but we’re going to pull back the independents. We’re going to bring back in the suburban women, we’re going to bring in Hispanics. We’re going to bring in the Asian community. 

We have to make sure we win this, because the thought of Kamala Harris being president should send a chill up every American spine.

She's certainly right about that. 

Haley is fresh off her appearance at the GOP presidential debate last week in Milwaukee where she went toe to toe with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy:

A poll following the debate showed that 15 percent of respondents thought she had won, trailing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (29 percent) and Ramaswamy (26 percent). A Public Opinion Strategies survey, however, found that Haley's support jumped from three percent to 11 percent in the days following the event. 

Haley also weighed in on former President Donald Trump's legal woes:

Donald Trump is a friend of mine. It was an honor to serve in the administration and work on foreign policy with him, and I agree with a lot of his policies. But the fact is, I don’t know if it’s four or five or six or how many indictments it is now, but he’s going to spend a lot of time in a courtroom and not on a campaign trail.

On Sean Hannity's Fox News show after the debate, she expressed similar sentiments:

“You can’t clean up Washington if Donald Trump is fighting issues of the past. We need a young generational conservative that’s going to go and clean up what they’ve done to Donald Trump but also carry our country forward,” she told Hannity.

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who like Haley trail Trump by a wide margin in the RealClearPolitics polling average, have taken similar positions. My problem with this line of thinking is that if you believe that Trump should be disqualified because he's been repeatedly indicted, then crusading Attorney General Merrick Garland and his weaponized Department of Justice have won. Their plan all along is to take out the former president with a barrage of legally questionable cases.

Haley is dead right about one thing though: a Kamala presidency would be a train wreck.
