There's another anniversary besides America's 250th birthday happening on the Fourth of July this year.
It does not seem like it's been 365 days but sure enough, on July 4, 2025, President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law.
Part of the OBBB was a major set of campaign trail promises Trump made to the American people, now known as the Working Families Tax Cuts. (It's timely to also remember that on July 3 last year, the president gave a preview of what we are seeing unfold for America 250 this year - and this week.)
Promises Kept: Trump Goes to Iowa, Teases What to Expect for America 250
In the days leading up to the bill's one-year anniversary, many members of the administration and Congressional members have been reminding Americans on social media what the tax provisions mean for them, their families, and their communities, as we race toward the midterms.
Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling reminded everyone of those 2024 promises by Trump and Republicans - at least, the ones most Americans have heard about - in an X post
.@POTUS’ Working Families Tax Cuts are the largest in the history of our country.

✅ No Tax on Tips.
✅ No Tax on Overtime.
✅ MORE MONEY in YOUR POCKETS.

I found something interesting when looking around to bring this news to you all, though; there are smaller provisions I reckon many people may not have realized were in the tax cuts. One example that surprised me was pointed out by Republican Rep. Tracey Mann (KS-01) during an Agriculture Department (USDA) hearing recently, as he wrote in an X post, "about USDA’s implementation of the Working Families Tax Cuts and its provisions to modernize acreage reporting through the One Farmer One File initiative."
Put simply, back in April, the USDA signed a deal with tech company Palantir Technologies to create a new digital system for farmers and ranchers, which CNBC reported is expected to be ready by 2028:
A key part of the deal is the ‘One Farmer, One File’ initiative, which will give each farmer a single digital profile. Farmers will be able to apply for services, submit data, and receive payments all in one place, so they won’t have to visit offices in person.

Sec. Sonderling and SBA (Small Business Administration) administrator Kelly Loeffler, along with Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI-03), spoke to some Wisconsin small business owners about the effect the Working Families Tax Cuts were having for them:
Small businesses like Loopy’s are the backbone of communities across America. Thanks to Working Family Tax Cuts, their employees are keeping more of what they earn – and helping local job creators grow. pic.twitter.com/VtJsIhv8dp

Part of the OBBB included the ability for business owners to deduct 100 percent of their costs for buying equipment and otherwise investing money back into their companies, which Senator James Langford R-OK) shared during a recent town hall event with Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent. Langford wrote on X:
As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Working Families Tax Cuts, my ALIGN Act is delivering. Small businesses can now deduct 100% of equipment and investments immediately so they can reinvest faster, grow, and hire. That’s exactly what this law was designed to do.
They call this "winning."
U.S. manufacturing just hit a four-year high.📈

Thanks to @HouseGOP’s Working Families Tax Cuts, we unleashed $284 billion in new economic growth for American manufacturers.

House Financial Services Committee member, Rep, Dan Meuser (R-09), who represents the battleground commonwealth of Pennsylvania, told Fox Business' Varney & Co. on June 24 that "the President’s recent successes on energy" are already giving relief to people's pocketbooks on cooling their homes this summer, and at the gas pump. In his X post with the clip, he included some numbers that PA voters hopefully will remember during the midterms in November:
Thanks to the President’s leadership and the Working Families Tax Cuts, 2.3 million Seniors will benefit from No Tax on Social Security, the average overtime worker’s tax bill has been reduced by $1,300 per year, and tipped workers are seeing a reduction of $1,200 a year across Pennsylvania.
Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) touted the new investment in the future known as Trump Accounts, which my colleague Ben Smith wrote about earlier on Friday. This initiative also begins on July 4, 2026:
The Working Families Tax Cuts are an investment in future generations. We included investment accounts to help kickstart the American Dream for our kids.

The House Committee on Education & Workforce wrote about the lesser-known higher education reforms, expected to save taxpayers $284 billion, that were in the legislative package signed by the president:
As America celebrates 250 years of freedom and opportunity, we're also looking ahead to the future we're building for the next generation.

As America celebrates 250 years of freedom and opportunity, we're also looking ahead to the future we're building for the next generation.
One year ago, the Working Families Tax Cuts became law, delivering some of the most significant higher education reforms in decades.
The Education and Workforce Committee reforms:
🎓 Hold colleges accountable for student outcomes.
💰 Help protect students and taxpayers from excessive debt.
📈 Expand career-driven pathways through high-quality workforce programs.
🔧 Simplify the student loan repayment system.
Together, these policies save taxpayers $284 billion while strengthening higher education for students, families, and employers.
Follow along this week as we highlight these reforms.
Republican Rep. Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) nailed it in this X post about the tens of millions in refunds Americans saw from their returns: "Lower taxes = more liberty."
The IRS sent out more than 90 million refunds this year — up 5%, with 17% more paid out in dollars.
— Congressman Nathaniel Moran (@RepNateMoran) June 25, 2026
That's the Working Families Tax Cuts Act at work. @HouseGOP delivered one of the largest tax cuts in American history.
Lower taxes = more liberty.
You got that right. God bless America!
