In the midst of Democrats and the legacy media melting down over the Trump administration's swift action to turn around the country from President Joe Biden's disastrous four years comes a new interview with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)--and his performance shows that the Democrat Party has learned zero lessons from the election.

Jeffries appeared on ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday, and actually tried to attack President Trump and Republicans for already breaking campaign promises to Americans.

He said:

"Donald Trump and Republicans consistently promised that they were going to lower the high cost of living, and they’ve done the exact opposite. They’ve shown no interest in lowering costs in the United States of America, which are too high

“Housing costs are too high. Grocery costs are too high. Child care costs are too high. Utility costs are too high. The cost of living is too high in the United States of America. This country is too expensive. But they’ve broken their promise. They have no interest in improving the quality of life of hardworking American taxpayers.”

He went on to flail wildly at Republicans' stated priorities, including reinstating and adding on to Pres. Trump's tax cuts, and cleaning up the waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government--including in the nation's broken healthcare system.

This, unsurprisingly, came after host Jonathan Karl confronted Rep. Jeffries with a Democrat colleague's questioning whether the Democrat Party currently has a national leader.

The New York lawmaker make his best effort to spin things, saying that House Democrats are committed to, as he describes it, stand against Republicans' efforts to "not only jam these massive tax cuts down the throats of the American people," which he claims will only affect the wealthy, but "effectively ending healthcare as we know it," and "slashing and burning Medicaid to the ground."

Unfortunately for Jeffries, accountability and a leaner federal bureaucracy is what Americans voted for in last November's elections, and as Karl pointed out in another part of the interview, the American people are showing support for how Trump is steering the ship in several recent polls.. But Democrats continue to box themselves in with the same, tired talking points that led to their losing both the White House and the Senate majority.

There's another major problem with Jeffries' argument: If prices and the cost of living are too high, who was in control in D.C. over the past four years? The left would rather people not think too hard about the answer to that question.

The rant also highlights that the left truly does not understand how the economy works. He insists that the solution is government doing something about these issues, with more taxes on the middle class and more bloated spending bills--neither of which we cannot afford.

Lastly, and this is the most obvious retort, specifically on the economic woes plaguing American families.

Trump has been in office for just over three weeks. Unless someone invents a time machine for him to hop into and correct the liberals' mismanagement and malfeasance, what Dems are suggesting is fantasy on its face. As innovative as Elon Musk is, I wouldn't suggest holding your breath for him to get that sort of contraption on the assembly line at Tesla or SpaceX.
