Full disclosure: I grew up in the countryside around many animals, including a horse named Happy Rascal. He was indeed a rascal with a clear personality that included affection and stubbornness. It was my responsibility to care for him with feed and water. And I didn't get my meals until he got his. All of which taught me much about life, love, care, and manure.
So, I may be biased about the mainly pleasurable values of city people being exposed to horses, those large living creatures with their unique ways and grace and their amazing strengths and patience.
The United States would not have grown and developed throughout its magnificent history and powers as it has without horses and their many contributions for more than 250 years.
I was instantly intrigued by the inexplicable drive of New York City's Muslim mayor to rid his city of horses, primarily the several score creatures and their forebears who have pulled countless locals and tourists through Gotham's streets since way back into the early 1800s.
Moving through Manhattan's hectic streets or, better yet, within the green calm of Central Park at a 17th-century equine pace has given countless carriage passengers a sense of another time and place and its old-fashioned grace.

New York City's mayor was not born in the United States. And it shows. As his values and policies unfold into practice and seep through his city, we are getting a clearer picture of his communist philosophy and intentions.
He is the foot in the door for a dangerous militant movement that is using America's treasured religious tolerance as a cloak to hide the takeover intentions that have become so obvious and violent in Europe. They are interested in minority rights only as long as they are a minority.
My father and mother were immigrants to America too, drawn by the opportunity for jobs in a country where the Great Depression ended sooner than in their birth home.
However, they came because of America, to become Americans, not to change this special place and perhaps produce what Barack Obama called for, a "radical transformation." They came to assimilate into our nation's enduring, open culture and over time, make their own small contributions to the mix, as so many million other legal newcomers have.

With early voting already underway for this year's midterm elections, some conservative voters may already be postponing participation, as they so often do for these decisions. By doing so, they are helping to elect members of the lost Democrat Party and socialists masquerading as Democrats.

Neighboring countries slammed shut their borders with Russia, and the government imposed a quarantine on hundreds of people, all while letting rumor and misinformation run rampant.
