How My Christmas Holidays Changed With Age (Audio)

Christmas Day. (Credit: Andrew Malcolm)

Some readers seem to have been confused over this weekly written post for Malcolm on the Right. This part was designed merely to be a written introduction to set the stage for opening the main part, which is the audio commentary itself.

I know Christmas is a very special occasion for most of us. It has some common points of significance for everyone. And some points that are special or unique to some individuals.

That is what this week's audio is about, how the holiday over many years became for me so much more than a thrilling unseen visit by the man in the black boots and red suit with the unhealthy BMI.

Here is that brief audio:

The most recent audio commentary took a lighthearted look at Kamala Harris' strangely constructed, backhanded effort to keep her name in the Democrat Party's conversation about the 2028 presidential nomination.

She's trying to accomplish this by telling anyone who will listen that she does not want to talk about the Democrat Party's 2028 presidential nomination. This, of course, makes everyone want to ask her about the Democrat Party's 2028 presidential nomination.

Which, in her mind, is the whole point of saying she does not want to talk about it.

As you may recall from her disastrous 15-week, 2024 presidential campaign as the sacrificial outcome of the Joe Biden is sharp as a tack scandal, Harris is not known for clarity of speech.

The reason for these rhetorical gymnastics is not that she intends to run in 2028, or has any realistic chance of gaining the nomination again if she did run, or that any wealthy Dem donor would consider forking over large chunks of change again, after she burned through $100 million of their money every single week last year.

The reason for saying she does not want to talk about the 2028 nomination and keep her name in the political conversation is simply to bolster the fees she can demand for speaking until she formally announces that she is not running.

As she did this past year, as if she were considering running to become governor of California to keep herself in the news until she announced that she was not going to seek that job, which involves real work.

In this week's Sunday column, I played around with thoughts about what has been the key factor supporting Donald Trump's political career going on these past 11 years. I argue that it's been in plain sight the entire time.

It's been his ability to aggregate a solid base of reliably energetic political supporters by identifying and voicing their frustrations and concerns with both parties' political establishments.

And then, wonder of wonders, actually keep his campaign promises to address those concerns one by one, once in office. As anyone knows if they've ever supported a candidate, those promises tend to evaporate after Inauguration Day.
