Dem Dilemma: That 'Nazi' Trump Brings Peace to Israel

Outside my office window is a thick grove of adult trees. Soon, they will be shedding their brightly-colored leaves for a few months of rest. But at the moment, every wind, every little breath of a breeze moving through those branches moves each one of thousands of leaves in a different pattern each time.

It's a mesmerizing kaleidoscope of shapes and different shades of green, forever moving in new ways.

Over many years, since the 1960's I have watched, studied, and written about American politics that move much the same in familiar but constantly changing ways. Some people can't stand to watch. I am forever fascinated by the way familiar people move in always changing patterns that end up governing our glorious country.

The latest fascinating political breeze to my eyes is Donald Trump's stunning successes in ending a half-dozen deadly conflicts around the world. And then accomplishing the seemingly impossible feat of bringing to an end, at least temporarily, the deadly two-year war in Gaza.

It is a truly remarkable achievement that has evaded past leadership using familiar, traditional diplomacy. As you may have noticed — LOL — Trump's style is about as non-traditional as you can get.

And, therefore, it's been remarkably successful. Remember three successive U.S. presidents trying to lure the leader of the North Korean hermit kingdom, Kim Jong-un, to engage with the wider world and experiencing a complete lack of success?

Then, along comes Trump with his non-traditional manners and style, and they've met several times to open communications.

Along comes Trump now, and what once seemed a complex matrix of intractable religious and political antagonisms now has some rays of hope for peace.

What's fun to watch is the conundrum that all these successes have dumped Democrats into. How in the world do you attack and, in their dreams, once again impeach President Trump after he's handcrafted Middle Eastern regional peace so successfully?

That is the subject of this week's audio commentary, which you can listen to right here:

This week's Sunday column examined the media's silly Nobel Peace Prize contretemps, making it seem like the prize committee skipped giving the prestigious award to President Trump because, well, you know why.

The fact is, all of Trump's international peace work, including ending seven conflicts and the two-year-old Gaza war, was not eligible for this year's prize. But it will be for next year's.

I also looked at the same committee's wanton disregard of the prize qualifications by giving the peace prize to Barack Obama back in 2009, when he had done nothing to merit such a distinction. In fact, he would go on to join the military ouster of Libya's leader, which turned that country into a lawless state that still does not have peace.

The most recent audio commentary was on the developing insanity of New York City's politics. Not that it's not been a crazy place before. But now the apparent winner in the city's mayoralty race next month appears to be Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim Democrat Socialist who sounds more like a Communist. I hope New York City gets exactly what it votes for -- and then some.

Something we pay a lot of attention to here on RedState is the sad state of the mainstream media. As a recovering former member of that group, which used to be an honorable profession, I have written often about their foibles and our fears. I don't think the traditional media can ever regain the trust and credibility it once enjoyed.

And I looked into that sad situation based on a new Gallup Poll showing that trust in that sector has reached a new low among Americans. And I examined what that has caused in terms of new media.
