Ever wonder what former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is up to? Well, he was recently tied up with ripping into freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The 29-year-old’s been on a roll lately, calling detention centers “concentration camps” (here and here) delivering a stunningly dramatic performance at the border, and railing against the U.S. on Independence Day (here).

Newt isn’t a fan.

Therefore, in a July 5th op-ed for Fox, he stated the following:

It took Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s visit to the border – and her dishonest comments afterward – to help me understand how profoundly vicious, cruel and dishonest she is.

Wow.

Furthermore:

When you look at the larger picture, it is clear that Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is eager and determined to undermine and destroy America as we have known it.

Newt went on to assert that such radical goals require lies. And that “when you despise American values and find the American people ‘deplorable’ and contemptible, lying is perfectly natural.”

The erstwhile Republican representative insisted that “the American immigration system is profoundly broken,” and that AOC and likeminded politicians are in part responsible for a man and his daughter drowning while trying to sneak into the country (here):

The tragedy of Ocasio-Cortez’s type of vicious, deliberately dishonest politics is it sets the stage for innocent people to die. The poignant, heart-wrenching picture of the father and his daughter who died trying to get into the United States illegally should serve as a moral condemnation of every Democrat trying to use the border as a political weapon against Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow left-wing activists continue to send signals to desperate and ambitious people around the world that they can (and should) enter the United States illegally.

Alexandria’s fellow spotlighted Democrat, Beto “I’m a privileged millionaire who will destroy privileged wealth” O’Rourke, sees things quite differently; he believes those tragic drowning deaths are your fault (see here).

Back to Newt — he pointed out the difference between immigration then and now:

It is important to remember that during the late 19th century when we had enormous immigration, it was still tightly controlled. Immigrants were processed in an orderly way. If they had infectious diseases, criminal records, were anarchists – or even showed signs of low morals – they were denied entry and sent back to their home countries.

The modern left-wing idea of opening the borders as wide as possible would have been thoroughly rejected in any previous era.

Interesting point.

Mr. Gingrich closed with a scathing final review of AOC, Pelosi, and other members of the House Left:

Every day that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and the Ocasio-Cortez radicals block reforming the immigration system, the House Republicans should take special orders and show the pictures of those who died the day before in a system the Democrats helped ruin – and refuse to reform.

Furthermore, Ocasio-Cortez should be called out for the viciousness, destructiveness, and dishonesty of her words and actions. It is time for decent people to stand up to her and ask: “Have you no shame?

No uncertain terms there.

Will any of his words reach Alexandria? I’d say it’s doubtful. But even if she’s made aware of them, I expect she’ll continue down her current path. Hopefully, where it concerns the big business, government-monopoly catastrophe of socialism, America won’t follow.
