Nigel Farage resigned as the head of Ukip this morning, saying that he has “done his bit” now that the referendum to leave the European Union has been brought and voted on.
“I’m certain the United Kingdom will leave the will leave the European Union. We’ve won that.” A fittingly succinct tribute to a major accomplishment. He spoke his mind today, as he has all along and said his farewell. He also tweeted his gratitude and satisfaction.
Thank you to all my supporters in @UKIP and beyond. Delighted with the result we fought for so long to achieve. #BrexitBritain

He came in and accomplished what he set out to accomplish. And now he’s done with politics. That’s the ideal isn’t it? National Review’s Jonah Goldberg had the best quick take I saw.
Getting really jealous of the UK. Their politicians accomplish the big things they promised to do and then go away.
