Signs of Victory: I-95 Welcomes President Donald Trump Int'l Airport

This is a move sure to make the political left start running around like their hair is on fire: Palm Beach International Airport, just in time for the 250th anniversary of American liberty, has been officially renamed. The new name?

The Palm Beach Post has more.

Crews began replacing an Interstate 95 exit sign near Palm Beach International Airport early Thursday, swapping it for one with the airport's new name: "President Donald Trump Int'l Airport."

Workers changed the sign at Exit 69B, giving drivers the first glimpse of the $2.75 million rebrand that takes effect July 9. The airport's three-letter code will switch to DJT from PBI for airline bookings and navigation systems on Aug. 18.

Palm Beach County still owns the airport, though President Trump holds the trademark on the new name.

Predictably, the whiners are already challenging the change.

Two lawsuits are pending that seek to block the renaming to President Donald J. Trump International Airport. George Poncy, a pilot and one of the plaintiffs, said the state has been slow to schedule a court hearing on the matter, raising the possibility the name change takes effect before a judge weighs in.

That ship would seem to have sailed. See RedState's earlier coverage of this well-timed transition:

FAA Just Locked Trump’s Name Into Federal Airspace, and the Left Can’t Do a Thing to Stop It

There's ample precedent for this. At the moment, aside from what's now President Donald J Trump International Airport (every time you say that, somewhere, a leftist head explodes) there are eight international and regional airports named for presidents:

  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York, NY
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport, in Houston, TX
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, in Washington, DC
  • Gerald R. Ford International Airport, in Grand Rapids, MI
  • Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport, Springfield, IL
  • Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, in Little Rock, AR (ugh)
  • Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Wichita, KS
  • Dickenson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport, Dickinson, ND

There are more, but those seem to be the major ones. And honestly, if Bill Clinton gets an airport, with, inexplicably, Hillary's name on it as well - why not President Trump?

Of course, the fun part of this will be the left's reaction. Florida Democrats - there still are some - will be organizing convoys to other airports to avoid setting foot in Trump International. Yes, that's petty and childish, but remember, these are Democrats, and Trump Derangement Syndrome has long since reached pandemic level among Democrats and the left in general. Now, I don't know how hard it is to get around Palm Beach without passing by one of these new airport signs, but I'd bet money that here in Alaska, we'll be able to hear the shrieks of outrage from Palm Beach, on I-95, at exit 69B, pointing the way to President Donald J Trump International Airport. (Every time you write that, somewhere, a leftist head explodes.)

My only regret in all this is that CPAC 2027 is scheduled to be held in Orlando, which is a fair drive from Palm Beach, so it won't make good sense for my wife and I to fly into Donald J Trump International Airport. Because, if it annoys only one leftist, isn't it worth it?
