Expert: Beijing May Eye U.S. Homeland if America Continues Iran Fight

Operation Epic Fury has been a great success so far. Of course, one reason that this operation, which our Israeli allies are calling Operation Roaring Lion, has been such a success so far is that no other nations are coming to Iran's aid. That shouldn't be surprising, as Iran has been an outlaw nation for almost half a century, ruled by a cabal of vicious, 7th-century barbarians that any civilized nation should rightly abhor.

Here's the thing: Iran also has some of the world's largest recoverable petroleum and natural gas reserves, one of the primary beneficiaries of which is China.

Now, China expert and Gatestone Institute senior fellow Gordon Chang, in an appearance with Fox Business's Cheryl Cason on Mornings with Maria, is concerned that China may well target America's domestic military bases in response to the attack on Iran

"The important point here is that we have had, last month, over four of our important military bases, foreign drones. These drones were large, they were un-hackable, they obviously were not recreational, so some foreign power — probably China, maybe Russia — was operating drones over our critical air force bases," Chang said on "Mornings with Maria."

"Really, right now, the United States needs to be able to defend its bases in the homeland because those drone flights were a warning to the United States of some sort," he continued.

These drone flights may indeed be, at the least, intelligence-gathering. We have seen, in recent months, too many attempts at such, and even worse, on the part of Chinese nationals in the United States - and even, in one case, two Chinese anchor babies. So, Gordon Chang is right to be concerned about China.

He continues:

Chang also warned that Beijing’s actions should be viewed in the context of its growing alignment with other U.S. adversaries like Russia and Iran, as tensions continue to spill across multiple global fronts.

"China is supporting Russia in Ukraine, and China is supporting Russia in other matters as well… So they have a durable partnership, and anything that helps one of them is going to generally help the other, with the exception of the matter that you just raised," he said, referring to the tension between higher oil prices benefiting Russia while raising costs for China.

"Generally speaking, the United States now faces a very powerful combination, and we shouldn’t be doing anything that fuels that combination," he added.

Here's the thing: If China were going to intercede directly on behalf of Iran, they would have done so by now. The same applies to Russia. They may well be providing some support, in some underlying manner, supplying drones, and whatever else they can slip into the Islamic Republic by way of logistics. But attacking the United States directly, that seems a stretch, especially given the military flex we have just shown in the Middle East.

While we should pay close attention to China - they are not our friends - and be prepared to counter any technological assets they or Russia may send our way, we should also not let us be deterred from the primary purpose of Operation Epic Fury, that being to eliminate Iran's nuclear capacity, and with a bit of luck, drag the former terrorist state kicking and screaming into the modern world.

Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
