Is Trump Putting His Head in the Lion's Mouth - or Will It Be the Other Way Around?

President Donald Trump has had an acrimonious relationship with the legacy media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) since that fateful walk down the golden escalator in 2015. Of course, up to that point, the legacy media and Democrats loved him, but announcing his run as a Republican broke them.

One of the worst examples of Trump Derangement Syndrome in the press was from The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg, who has never seen a story he couldn't gin up to have an anti-Trump angle. But now President Trump has announced he will be meeting with Goldberg face to fact-challenged face.

Will this be a repeat of the congenial meeting of the minds with Bill Maher, where both parties walked away on good terms despite disagreements? Or will it be a more hostile exchange?

President Trump isn't giving many hints.

The president's post continues:

Jeffrey is bringing with him Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, not exactly pro-Trump writers, either, to put it mildly! The story they are writing, they have told my representatives, will be entitled, “The Most Consequential President of this Century.” I am doing this interview out of curiosity, and as a competition with myself, just to see if it’s possible for The Atlantic to be “truthful.” Are they capable of writing a fair story on “TRUMP”? The way I look at it, what can be so bad – I WON!

Well, this should be entertaining.

I might point out that since it's only 2025, it may be a tad premature to write an article entitled "The Most Consequential President of this Century." Someone writing such an article in 1925, we might note, would have never heard of Ronald Reagan. But the most consequential so far? Not even the most committed leftist can really argue that, given the roster of presidents since 2001, which has been, shall we say, tepid at best.

The real fun part of this interview, whenever it ends up being released, will be seeing who dominates the conversation. My money's on the president; he's pretty good at overwhelming people with the force of his personality, which is considerable. And I don't doubt for a moment that Jeffrey Goldberg and those accompanying him will be the target of a few Trumpian jabs.

Honestly, though - the best thing President Trump could do would be to activate the other side of his personality. Hit them with a charm offensive. It may not sway Goldberg, Sherer, and Parker, but there will be millions of people watching this when it's released. We have seen that Trump can do this, as well; this is in part what surprised Bill Maher about their meeting - Trump's congeniality.

But if the president were to ask my advice on how to handle this, the one thing I would tell him is this: Record every second of it independently. Don't rely on them to edit and present it honestly. They won't.

The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie.
