New York City's troubled Mayor Eric Adams has in recent weeks seen the light on the horrendous cost illegal immigration has laid on the New York taxpayers. He's been working with the Trump administration to try to restore some semblance of sanity to the Big Apple, including not shelling out millions to house illegal aliens in luxury hotels.
This has brought a lot of heat on Hizzoner, from his own party.
First, New York Comptroller Brad Lander has demanded that Mayor Adams submit a contingency plan for running the city - just in case.
BREAKING: New York Comptroller Brad Lander is demanding that Eric Adams submit a "contingency plan" for governing the city by Friday, or he will begin a formal process to remove Adams from power.

The demanding missive states in part:
Today my office received news that four of the City's Depute Mayors - including First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer - have submitted their resignations and that others have communicated their intent to resign. These departures would create an unprecedented leadership vacuum at the highest level of City government and wreak havoc on the City's ability to deliver essential services to New Yorkers.
These resignations come in the wake of deeply concerning actions by the U.S. Justice Department, asking the U.S. District Court to drop the indictments against you, so long as you comply with the White House on the matters of immigration and criminal justice policy, which call into question your ability to comply with your duties to New Yorkers under the City Charter.
Think about that for a moment. Aside from the implied "Nice political career you have there, Mr. Adams. Be a shame if anything... happened to it" vibe, anyone with enough mental horsepower to pound sand can see that Mayor Adams is doing his duty for New Yorkers by working with Homeland Security and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) to fulfill the primary purpose of not only his office but that of any elected, appointed or hired government worker, anywhere - to protect the liberty and property of the citizens. New Yorkers have seen a plague of illegal aliens descend on the city, including dangerous criminals and gang members; Mayor Adams is rare among Democrats in that he actually sees this as a problem. The charges that were dropped were arguably retaliation against him for opposing the Biden administration on illegal immigration. Mayor Adams claims that this is the case, and given the Biden administration's track record, that doesn't seem unlikely.
All this is because he's working to address the burden, financial and criminal, that unchecked illegal immigration and "sanctuary city" policies have placed on the people of the Big Apple.

But wait! There's more! New York's Governor, Kathy Hochul, is considering firing Mayor Adams.

That post states:
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has said she will meet with city leaders while indicating she may remove New York City Mayor Eric Adams from office.
In other words, Governor Hochul is considering removing the democratically elected mayor of, not only the largest city in her state but a metropolis that was once one of the great cities of the world. She is considering removing him, against the will of the voters, because of a policy disagreement - Mayor Adams is in favor of enforcing immigration law, and Governor Hochul is against it. Of course, the governor, and likely the deputy mayors who have resigned in a snit, aren't the ones who feel the effects of the influx of illegal aliens.
Have these people gone completely insane?
New York's next mayoral election is this November. Mayor Adams answers to the people of the city of New York, and if they want him out of office, they'll vote him out. Mayor Adams, unrepentant, is, as of this writing, seeking to keep his office. That's how it's supposed to work. This corrupt grandstanding, threatening to remove a democratically elected mayor over disagreement in policy, is fundamentally opposed to everything the United States is supposed to stand for.
But then, that seems to be how national Democrats operate these days.
