Pro-Hamas protesters block bridges and tunnels in New York; somehow, they think this helps their cause
Monday morning, pro-Hamas protesters shut down three vital arterial roads in New York City: The Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Holland Tunnel. For some reason, they think these acts will make people more sympathetic to their cause.
Total Traffic reported the outbound lanes were closed around 10 a.m. during the end of the morning rush.
At least one lane of the Holland Tunnel has reopened, and traffic appears to be flowing again on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Video taken near the tunnel showed approximately two dozen people sitting down in the roadway, as officers set up metal barriers around them.
Another video showed a similar scene at the Brooklyn Bridge, where about the same number sat in the street there.
Video also showed three lanes of traffic at a standstill on the Manhattan Bridge.
The NYPD responded and took several people into custody.
While it's unclear how many people were taken into custody or what they may be charged with, what information we have at the moment suggests that whatever consequences the protesters face won't be enough to deter them from taking more action like this in the future.

Many of the pro-Hamas protests have been loudly calling for a cease-fire, by which one may safely assume they only want Israel to cease fire; Hamas would suffer under no such restriction, as the history of that group speaks very clearly to that.
This, of course, is what these people are protesting in support of:

Make no mistake about it: These protesters, who are in the United States, living amongst us, are protesting in support of a group that commits mass rape and murder. Hamas deliberately targets the innocent, including infants, children, and the elderly. They take civilian hostages and commit rape on a massive scale.
That is what these protesters are supporting.
Some time ago, I posited here that the United States could see our version of the Oct. 7 attacks. While these protests are far more likely to make the general citizenry less sympathetic towards Hamas rather than more - protesting by interfering with people's commutes never adds to the approval ratings of a cause - the likelihood of a repeat of the Oct. 7 attacks increases, not decreases, with each failed protest.
There is one action the federal government, specifically the Executive Branch, could take that would greatly reduce the chance of terror attacks here in the United States. The State Department has the power to revoke the visas of foreign nationals who are outed as Hamas supporters. There can be no clearer demonstration of support for Hamas than participating in a pro-Hamas protest that violates laws on blocking traffic; any foreign nationals who are arrested in such a protest should immediately have their visas revoked and given a one-way ticket back to their country of origin - and then be escorted to the gate by federal officers who will ensure they get on the plane.
That would not identify and deal with every potential troublemaker. We have plenty of home-grown bad actors. But it would deal with a fair number of them. And all it would take, State and Homeland Security being under the Executive Branch, is an order from the President. Sure, this would also result in the potential terrorists forgoing these mass protests, letting their useful idiots take the heat instead, but at least they would be reacting to us, not the other way around.
We are embroiled in a clash of civilizations - actually, it's more accurate to say we are in a clash of civilizations vs. the uncivilized - and every arrow in the quiver should be used.
