In less than 72 hours, it seems the Ottawa Police have decided that the people they serve and specifically those that are peacefully protesting are just human battering rams to be moved aside and possibly squashed. Truly not a good look for our friends in the north that do not have a Bill of Rights to protect them.

Thank God for the First Amendment we have in the United States. Am I right, people?

If you are a regular reader of RedState, then you know that we have been following the amazing events of our friends in Canada, and the nationwide protests that started back in January, after Prime Minster Castro Trudeau decided to add another mandate not based on science. Like most of his progressive ilk, he thought he would show them li’l people who was boss–and it was the straw that broke the polar bear’s back.

The police ran their horses into a crowd of protesters much faster than they should have, despite the protesters being peaceful. You can see them knock over a woman who was on what appeared to be a disability scooter, and a man in a brown coat with a knit hat, who was trying to shield her or push her out of the way of the horses.

Both were knocked to the ground, as people yelled about them being trampled. There were later reports that the woman had died, but as far as we can tell, at this point, that was a false rumor, as she was standing up after the incident.

The police say that everyone was able to get up okay afterward. But the police also appear to have told a whopper of a lie about the incident, claiming that a bicycle had been thrown at the horse.

The cop clearly lied about the bike being thrown at a horse. Sorry to say here, Officer Thuggy Buggy, but in the age of social media, you can’t just make up stuff and call it a day. The cameras are EVERYWHERE, and the claims from Prime Minster Brown Shirt and the police that the protestors are…

are just not factual.

Why? Because there are literally thousands of hours of video, from regular citizens with cell phones. And you damn well know the cops are out there with drones and their undercover video — and they have squat to show. What they have found so far were Canadians peacefully protesting and possibly drinking a Labatts Blue from a can. A threat to democracy, this is not.

So, you might think that after a good night’s rest, after spending the day sticking your boot on the necks of your fellow citizens peacefully demonstrating, maybe the Ottawa Police would pull back and chill. If you thought that as I did, you would be 100 percent wrong.

Ottawa Police tweeted this lovely warning today, reminding those left in town that they watched all those movies about totalitarian governments also — and they might have perfected some of their moves.

PROTESTORS: We told you to leave. We gave you time to leave. We were slow and methodical, yet you were assaultive and aggressive with officers and the horses. Based on your behaviour, we are responding by including helmets and batons for our safety.

The lack of self-awareness here is really astounding. Just because you folks in the police watch the CBC and they say you are doing a good job, it might help if you took a step outside of your own thought bubble and see how this looks to the millions of others in your country and around the world. In other words, check yourself before you wreck yourself–and your country.

The guy currently in charge of this Ottawa police debacle is a Dr. Evil look-alike wannabe by the name of Steve Bell. He has been on the job for less than a week. He sure has made a mark, and his officers are doing the same out in the street. Here is what Steve had to follow up with, after that epic tweet from his department.

I’m not sure about that video, but I think he was slightly excited saying all that. All he needed to do was put his pinky in the corner of his mouth and scream for “Mini-me” to complete this totally creepy scenario.

So, you are going to follow up on every person that attended these peaceful rallies and seize their bank accounts, and other measures, for what? Opposing the petty Prime Minister who does not like being told no? That is your job? Do you feel good about this?

Probably so.

In these types of scenarios, evil always shows its face, and it takes the will and resolve of those people of goodwill to stand up and say: no, that’s enough. The people protesting in Canada have done nothing to deserve this treatment, absolutely nothing.

While it is a pretty dark time in the country to the north right now, there is always dawn. And I hope that their resolve stays firm to dump the idiotic policies of a spoiled brat who thinks that Fidel Castro was a role model. Even if they don’t share the same D.N.A., anyone that believes that is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.

My last thought here is one of admiration of these Canadian Patriots, and being thankful that I was born in a country that demanded Free Speech and the Right to Bear Arms.

Thanks, founding fathers — you still rock 240-plus years later.
