Adorable That A.O.C. Thinks Crops Are Ruined in New York Because of a Warm Day.

I CAN HEAR THE CROPS GROWING

There is nothing I love more than seeing my Google Alert go off with something new from my favorite Congressional heroine Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. She is the future by golly and one reason that people who wish for the sweet meteorite of death to strike Earth make a compelling case.

In our latest example of the former bartender turned policy expert on everything educating us on “stuff”, we find her trying to blend her favorite topic of global warming into why crops might now grow later this year. Mostly because of a brief warm stretch here in January.

Step aside Mr. Green Jeans, you about get A.O.C.’ed.

From The Hill

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is warning of potential damage to crops and the high food prices that could follow after the New York metropolitan area saw record high temperatures this past weekend.

“It hit ~70° in NY,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Sunday night. “In January. This weather at this time of year can be very risky for local farmers & families they serve.”

“If certain crops germinate/flower prematurely & a freeze follows, crops could fail or drop in yield. When food supply drops, prices rise,” she continued, while adding the hashtag #ClimateCrisis.

How can you not love her?

Instead of her rejoicing that it was 70 degrees in her home state which gives her a chance to work on that wonderful tan of hers in JANUARY, she is upset. Turn that frown upside down Alexandria and let’s have common sense rule the day.

The two warmest days ever in New York come in at a tie of 72 degrees. Once on Jan, 26th 1950 and then on Jan, 6th 2007 according to Vocal Media which did a story on this. These two days occurred a mere 57 years apart which is not really a trend.

Now that we have that debunked lil warming inconvenient truth, let’s tackle the second point of AOC’s lecture to us via tweet. That somehow the crops will germinate and will fail and drop “in yield” then prices will go up. Now I am more inclined to believe her about prices going up on anything being she is a socialist but that is a discussion for a different time.

Common sense…just simple COMMON SENSE would dictate you ask one question. What farmers rushed out during this brief warming trend and planted crops? Any? Bueller? AOC?

Are their crops that could be planted after the harvest and the land is turned up and fertilized for the next growing season? Sure. However, germination could also happen on a week of sunny 50-degree days and farmers are better prepared to deal with that than we are. Much better than a bartender who is using a two-day warming trend to try mightly to make a political point.

Don’t get me wrong being I LOVE THE ATTEMPT but our favorite congressional mixologist is just flat out wrong here. Which is also not the first time and thankfully won’t be the last. I would not know what to do without her lecturing us on stuff that she just googled an hour before.

So have no fear farmers in upstate New York. Your crops so far are safe ( mostly because they have not been planted yet) and we look forward to you having a blessed growing season later this year. Farmers are the true soul of this country and we are lucky that you do what you do.

If the weather gets warm again go out and enjoy it and send some pics to @AOC on twitter. I’m sure she will appreciate seeing what an actual farm looks like.
