More Winning: Senate Confirms Trump Nominee Emil Bove As Federal Judge Despite Democrat Histrionics

If you’re tired of winning, you might want to stop reading because Donald Trump just racked up another victory as his contentious—to Democrats, anyway—pick to be a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit was confirmed by the Senate in a tight 50-49 vote Thursday night.

Attorney General Pam Bondi celebrated the news:

He will be missed — and he will be an outstanding judge.

Bove’s nomination really got under the skin of the Democrats, who earlier in July pitched a hissy fit and stormed out of a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting in protest.

"The Resistance" in Action: Dems Pitch Fit, Walk Out of Judiciary Committee Meeting Over Emil Bove Judicial Nomination

As RedState’s Susie Moore reported, New Jersey Dem Sen. Cory Booker put on one of his theatrical productions:

Bove, of course, is "controversial" and unacceptable to the Democrats, as he served as a member of Trump's legal defense team, and now as associate deputy attorney general at the Department of Justice. (Of course, few, if any, of Trump's nominees have been deemed acceptable to the Democrats, so why would Bove serve as an exception?)

Just ahead of the walkout, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) was railing against committee chair Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who apparently dismissed a point of order Booker had attempted to raise. The entire production runs for almost seven minutes, with Booker giving his most earnest impersonation of a reasonable guy simply trying to get a fair shake from the committee chair.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), meanwhile, called him a "Trumpian henchman." Such leadership, Chuck, such an effort to unite. Bove had an answer: "I am not anybody’s henchman. I’m not an enforcer," the newly minted judge said during confirmation hearings. "I’m a lawyer from a small town who never expected to be in an arena like this."

Although the Dems tried to “Bork” him, he has a long list of accomplishments:

He started out as a high-achieving student, college athlete and Georgetown University law school graduate. He went on to clerk for two federal judges and worked for about a decade as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, leading high-profile terrorism and drug trafficking cases through 2019.

The real problem the left has with him is that he led Trump’s personal defense team during the president's endless criminal prosecutions—the “witch hunt,” as Trump might call it. A whistleblower also claimed that Bove, in a March meeting, floated the idea of defying any court orders that came down that were against Trump’s deportation plans—a charge he denies.

Prepare not to be surprised: Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Maine Sen. Susan Collins voted no. These two are becoming as predictable as heat in August.

Regardless, folks with hurt feelings will still have to deal with a new reality: they won’t be able to call Mr. Bove “Trump's lawyer” anymore. He’s now “U.S. Circuit Judge Emil Bove.”
