Stop me if you've heard this one before.
A catch-and-release illegal alien from the Biden era crosses the southern border, makes his way to an affluent American community that has embraced sanctuary policies, and proceeds to commit a heinous crime on that community.
Let me fill in some details.
In this particular case, the man is Alexis Antonio Cedillos‑Campos, 19, a Salvadoran who was arrested Wednesday morning for the murder of a mother in a hiking trail parking lot on Monday.
Federal sources told FOX News that Cedillos‑Campos is from El Salvador and was in the country illegally. He was captured and released at the border in El Paso, Texas, in April 2024, according to those sources.
The details of the crime are horrifying, although the circumstances around it are still unclear.
Fairfax County police say Alexis Antonio Cedillos‑Campos is charged in the death of 42‑year‑old Carmen Lizet Puch. She was found stabbed around 7 a.m. in a parking area along the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike, lying unconscious next to her dark red 2011 Honda Civic. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A manhunt had been on for the last few days after hikers found Puch's body as they were setting out to hike the popular Great Falls area.

BREAKING: I'm told by federal source that the suspect arrested in Fairfax County, VA for the stabbing murder of a mother near a jogging trail in Great Falls, VA is a Salvadoran illegal alien who was caught and released at the border by the Biden admin in El Paso, TX in April 2024. Fairfax County Police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos this morning in connection to the stabbing killing of Carmen Lizet Puch on Monday and released a photo of his arrest.
I've also included a photo of Cedillos-Campos from when he was in Border Patrol custody in 2024, courtesy of a federal source. NBC Washington reports Puch was 42-years-old and had a young daughter.
The reason this might all sound so familiar is because of the setting: Fairfax County, Virginia. It's a suburb of Washington, D.C., and it's become a haven for illegal aliens looking to be protected from the Trump/ICE dragnet. Just this week, the county made headlines for allowing an accused murderer to obtain a day pass from his residential program, and he proceeded to hightail it back to Tajikistan.

This is all abetted by Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano, who was put in the hot seat back in May when he appeared before a congressional committee. Congress had questions about Descano's stated policy of taking a criminal's immigration status into account when deciding punishments. Often, that meant criminal illegals were given a slap on the wrist and sent on their way.
They didn't get many answers.
Descano has a certain amount of top cover from his fellow Democrat, Gov. Abigail Spanberger. On her first day in office back in January, Spanberger severed an agreement with ICE that allowed Virginia state law enforcement officials to assist in detaining illegal aliens.
Joe Biden has a lot to answer for – his government had Cedillos‑Campos in custody and released him. Now, a Virginia mother is dead, a child is without a mother, and yet another illegal alien has been charged with murder.
