ODU Terrorist Hid in Plain Sight Thanks to Virginia Democrats' 'Social Justice' Law

Shortly after Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, stormed into a classroom at Old Dominion University (ODU) last Thursday – shouting "Allahu Akbar!" – and opened fire on the ROTC class that was in progress, Virginia's new governor, Democrat Abigail Spanberger, took to X to cluelessly wonder why Jalloh was free to be on campus that day. As RedState reported, Jalloh shot and killed Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, the class instructor, and met his own demise at the hands of some of the heroic cadets who weren't about to let the terrorist claim more victims on their watch.

Spanberger, who likes to puff herself up as a former CIA operative, strained to understand how Jalloh "could carry out the horrific attack" after having been convicted on federal charges of "attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization."

The answer is quite simple: Democrats. Spanberger's fellow Virginia Democrats, to be more specific. Something about which Virginia's former attorney general, Republican Jason Miyares, was more than happy to educate Spanberger on the issue.

Back in 2021 – while Spanberger was still in Congress happily rubber-stamping Joe Biden's policies – Virginia Democrats passed legislation that prohibited Virginia's public colleges from asking about an applicant's criminal history. Gov. Ralph Northam, the post-birth-abortion-lover who once either dressed up in blackface or a KKK hood – signed it into law, and it went into effect on January 1, 2022.

Here's the language:

Public institutions of higher education; admissions applications; criminal history. Prohibits each public institution of higher education, with the exception of the Virginia Military Institute, from (i) utilizing an institution-specific admissions application that contains questions about the criminal history of the applicant or (ii) denying admission to any applicant on the basis of any criminal history information provided by the applicant on any third-party admissions application accepted by the institution. The bill permits each public institution of higher education to inquire into the criminal history of any individual who has been admitted to but has yet to enroll at the institution and withdraw an offer of admission to any individual whom the institution subsequently determines to have a criminal history that poses a threat to the institution's community. The bill has a delayed effective date of January 1, 2022.

This explains the comment by a university spokesperson after the shooting: "Old Dominion University had no knowledge of any prior criminal history for Jalloh." To make matters worse, as RedState also reported, students, faculty, and staff members at ODU are prohibited from carrying weapons while on campus, so they are unable to protect themselves from the unknown number of convicts roaming the place who may have plans to wreak havoc.

Here's a question: Shouldn't a federal conviction for "attempting" terrorism fall into the "need to know" category for anyone in this madman's orbit? Yes, the legislation is garbage and should be repealed immediately, but why in the world were ODU officials and students intentionally made unaware of the terrorist in their midst?

Tell me again how Democrats want to keep America and Americans safe.
