JD Vance Absolutely Levels the Left Over Minneapolis Shooting – 'The Gaslighting Is Off the Charts!'

Vice President JD Vance appears to have had it with some of the Left's hot takes following the shooting of an anti-ICE protester Wednesday in Minneapolis, saying Thursday that the incident was a "tragedy," but the blame "falls on this woman and all of the radicals who teach people that immigration is the one type of law that rioters are allowed to interfere with."

As RedState has been reporting, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed after it appeared she intended to use her vehicle as a weapon against federal law enforcement officers who were carrying out immigration efforts in the area. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been "stalking and impeding" those efforts throughout the day. "She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle and attempted to run a law enforcement officer over...an act of domestic terrorism," Noem relayed at a Wednesday press conference.

President Trump weighed in shortly after the shooting, saying he had watched a video clip of the woman "violently, willfully, and viciously" assaulting the ICE agent, noting that it was "a horrible thing to watch." In a Truth Social post, Trump also said, "The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis."

Trump Torches ‘Radical Left’ for Inciting Anti-ICE Violence That Led to Minneapolis Shooting

Vance, a Yale Law School graduate, offered his take on the situation in a heated response to a post on X from Jenin Younes, a self-described "former defense attorney" who now works for The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, who tweeted it was "very clear that the officers instigated the confrontation" and that "the ICE officers had no law enforcement authority to begin with."

To which Vance responded, "This is preposterous."

The vice president proceeded to lay down the facts in a lengthy post, which is included in its entirety below. Here are some of the more salient points made by Vance:

  • Good was not "waving the officers through," as many on the Left concluded, but was "waving another car through."
  • The officers approached Good because "she is obstructing a lawful enforcement operation."
  • The officer involved in the shooting "discharged his weapon in self defense, and other angles of the video show the woman *clearly* hit the officer with her car while accelerating."

Vance concluded, "The gaslighting is off the charts and I'm having none of it. This guy was doing his job. She tried to stop him from doing his job. When he approached her car, she tried to hit him."

This is preposterous.

First of all, she's not waving the officers through and has no right to do so even if she were. She is waving another car through, before the officers approach her car.

Second, the officers are not randomly searching her, they are approaching her vehicle because she is violating the law: namely, she is obstructing a lawful enforcement operation. You're not allowed to walk up to or drive up to people who are enforcing the law to make it harder for them to do their jobs.

Third, this defense attorney is drawing a meaningless distinction between an ICE officer and a "real police officer." Again, you're not allowed to interrupt a lawful enforcement operation, which is exactly what this woman was doing.

Fourth, the officer didn't discharge his weapon to prevent her from fleeing. When he discharged his weapon, she had pointed the vehicle at him and pressed the gas. He discharged his weapon in self defense, and other angles of the video show the woman *clearly* hit the officer with her car while accelerating.

The gaslighting is off the charts and I'm having none of it. This guy was doing his job. She tried to stop him from doing his job. When he approached her car, she tried to hit him.

A tragedy? Absolutely. But a tragedy that falls on this woman and all of the radicals who teach people that immigration is the one type of law that rioters are allowed to interfere with.
