The DOJ and FBI Have Been Under Secret Investigation for Weeks

All in service to the king.

A group of Republicans have taken it upon themselves to step outside of the boundaries of the investigating committees, and without informing their Democrat counterparts, have secretly been investigating the Department of Justice and the FBI.

The impetus for the clandestine investigation is the dossier on Donald Trump that was put together by the oppo-research firm, Fusion GPS.

Led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), their extracurricular activities are channeled to determine if the DOJ or FBI improperly handled the dossier, leading to the ongoing probe into Russian activities, and just how Donald Trump may be involved.

The others involved in the investigation aren’t in the talking mood, but they’re not denying the existence of it, either.

“I don’t talk about what we do behind closed doors,” Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) told Politico. Conaway also took over the House’s investigation into Russian election meddling after Nunes recused himself earlier this year.

“I’m not going to talk about that,” added Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), when asked by Politico.

Speaking of Nunes recusing himself, that happened because he stepped outside of his duties, conducting his own secret investigations in service to the new king, at the beginning of the investigation.

That he’s a part of an attempt to discredit the DOJ and FBI now shouldn’t be a shock.

“I hate to use the word corrupt, but they’ve become at least so dirty that who’s watching the watchmen? Who’s investigating these people?” Nunes said on Fox News earlier in December. “There is no one.”

No doubt, a DOJ under the leadership of Eric Holder, and then Loretta Lynch was rancid, and there are some holdovers, but a secret investigation to try and discredit the entirety of both institutions?

Democrats had the expected reaction.

“I think what we are seeing in our committee … is an effort to attack the Department of Justice, an effort to attack the FBI, to attack Bob Mueller, is an effort to undermine the investigations and these institutions out of fear of what they’ll find and try to discredit them in advance,” said ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). “It’s a pernicious thing to do that will ultimately inflict long-term damage on these institutions.”

I have no doubt that that much is true. There seem to be so many tribes and loyalties, with few taking the overall health of our nation into account.

And this just feels wrong.
