Changes in the RedState Lineup

Just wanted to take this opportunity to bring everyone up to date on changes in the lineup here at RedState.

We’ve added the following writers to the line up, click the link to their author profiles to find their Twitter/Parler handles:

Becca Lower, as many of you’ve noticed, joined the team in April. She formerly worked at IJR.com as a writer and editor. She grew up outside Cincinnati, OH, in former Speaker John Boehner’s district, and currently lives in Mesa, AZ.

Shipwreckedcrew joined the team last month. He’s an attorney who spent more than 22 years as federal prosecutor, and now practices mostly in the area of criminal defense in federal courts.  He’s been a political junkie for more than 40 years.

Mike Miller is coming on board effective today, though you’ve seen his byline for the past month. After a successful financial planning career, Mike succumbed to his political junkie side and pursued his longtime goal of writing political news and commentary.  Prior to joining RedState, he was a senior writer and sometimes-editor at Independent Journal Review.

Also joining us, effective today, is Dennis Santiago. Dennis is an author and commentator on national policy and global stability issues. His subject matter expertise was developed during the Cold War as strategic warfare systems analyst, missile defense architect and arms control analyst. He is the author of the US Imperfect Defense Theory of Strategic Missile Defense. Dennis has worked on conventional warfare, nuclear warfare, and asymmetric warfare. His areas of expertise include combat aircraft, ordnance, electronic warfare, command and control, campaign design and game theory. He is a member of the Foreign Press Association (FPA) and Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) and loves to burn ammo.

Rounding us out is Michael Thau. Michael is from a working class background in Philadelphia, earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Princeton and was on the faculty of UCLA. He’s been published in Oxford University Press and has been a contributor to American Thinker and American Greatness.

All in all, RedState has probably never been stronger in the talent department than we are today.

You’ll also note changes in the comments section. The volume of comments is several times what it was a year ago and a lot of unfriendly eyeballs are focused on them. Keeping the comments sorta civilized (long-time commenter tonySC has recreated the old RedState posting rules here, you can’t go wrong in using them) is getting a bit much to be a one-man job. You’ll noticed that two new names have joined me on the moderator beat.

Bob Hahn has been at RedState almost as long as me and has a much longer and deeper career in political blogging than I ever will. Bob had a key role in the founding of FreeRepublic and basically created the RedState moderation principles, primarily the one that says any time we spend trying to find common ground  with leftists is time we aren’t spending on finding ways to defeat them. Susie Moore is a member of my leadership team and an attorney who hails from Missouri.

In addition to Bob and Susie, I’m also assisted by a team of deputies in the comments section. They are long-time, trusted commenters who operate a Discord server for socializing and as my first line of defense against shenanigans in the comments section. Leave a note here if you are interested in helping them out.
