Little by little we’re learning a lot more about the process that led to the “whistleblower” complaint to come to the attention of Adam Schiff’s goons and what we’re seeing isn’t all that pretty.
What we know is that the whistleblower was a CIA analyst who was seconded to the National Security Council during the last part of the Obama administration. In that position, he frequently briefed then-Vice President Joe Biden. He left the NSC sometime around the time that the Trump administration came in (my gut is not that long afterwards but I don’t know that for a fact) and returned to the CIA. What is apparent in his own statement is that he only learned about the conversation in question because he was gossiping with people about it…people who had a duty not to divulge what they’d heard in their official duties to people not cleared to have that information.
So we have a good idea of how the “whistleblower” came into contact with the information. But now we have an additional wrinkle.
We’ve known all along that Adam Schiff’s office was intimately involved in developing this complaint. So involved, in fact, that Adam Schiff will be an actual witness in any impeachment trial:

Now we’re seeing that Schiff’s committee has much deeper ties to the whistleblower.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff recruited two former National Security Council aides who worked alongside the CIA whistleblower at the NSC during the Obama and Trump administrations, the Washington Examiner has learned.
Abigail Grace, who worked at the NSC until 2018, was hired in February, while Sean Misko, an NSC aide until 2017, joined Schiff’s committee staff in August, the same month the whistleblower submitted his complaint.
It would seem that the whistleblower approached former colleagues with his gripes, it wasn’t just a call to a random number on committee staff. This personal acquaintance with the whistleblower goes a long way towards explaining Adam Schiff blatant lie about the contact his staff…if not himself, personally…had with the whistleblower.
While Grace seems somewhat normal, there is no doubt that she’s very much a progressive:
Grace, 36, was hired to help Schiff’s committee investigate the Trump White House. That month, Trump accused Schiff of “stealing people who work at White House.” Grace worked at the NSC from 2016 to 2018 in U.S.-China relations and then briefly at the Center for a New American Security think tank, which was founded by two former senior Obama administration officials.
Misko seems like quite a piece of work. The kind of unethical staffer who has no compunction about lying to get his way rather than presenting his honest assessment and letting the boss decide.
Misko, 37, worked in the Obama administration as a member of the secretary of state’s policy planning staff under Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan, who became Hillary Clinton’s top foreign policy official during her 2016 presidential campaign. In 2015, Misko was the director for the Gulf states at the NSC, remaining there into the Trump administration’s first year.

The same source said that Misko had not been trusted by Trump appointees. “There were a few times where documents had been signed off for final editing before they go to the national security adviser for signature,” the source said. “And he actually went in and made changes after those changes were already finished. So he basically tried to insert, without his boss’s approval.
“There were meetings in which he protested very heavily and next thing you know there’s an article in the paper about the contents of that meeting.” Misko often clashed with other NSC personnel at meetings, another source said. Both Grace and Misko were close to Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, Trump’s national security adviser from Feb. 2017 until May 2018.
The article notes that both staffers have a duty to not divulge privileged executive branch information they had access to while on the NSC as if that were more than a Trivial Pursuit question. People with access to secret material who gossip about that information with people ho aren’t cleared are hardly likely to be restrained in how they use it to further political ends. And when you have people who have access to that privileged material who are openly hostile to the president (tell me another joke about a non-partisan civil service) and have been hired to investigate him will hardly let a mere pledge stand it their way.
A better theory is that the whistleblower knew he had two former colleagues who were fervent Democrats and working to investigate Trump. He heard scuttlebutt that he perceived might be harmful to Trump if packaged in the right way. He approached them on a strategy to maximize the damage. And here we are. The only question outstanding, other than the name of the whistleblower, is the degree to which Schiff’s staff wrote the complaint itself.
