Last night the word was that Joe Donnelly had decided to vote in favor of confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. That rumor turns out to be wrong:

This, I have to admit, is something of a surprise. Donnelly is in a tie with Mike Braun in the senate race in Indiana. I have a lot of doubts about the poll because Indiana was Trump +19 in 2016. Donnelly is either convinced that no one is paying attention or that he’s so popular that he can win despite the Kavanaugh vote…or he knows he’s a goner and this gets him a fat lobbying contract in January. The first point is, now, very doubtful and I suspect that he may find he’s guessed wrong on the second also…and we can hope it is number three.
