Nancy Mace Is Not Dealing Well With Her Retirement From Politics — or Mid-Life

After coming in fifth for governor in the June 9 South Carolina primary election, while surrendering her congressional seat because she mounted that ill-fated gubernatorial bid, Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01) appears to be at loose ends. Unlike her former colleague Marjorie Taylor Greene, she hasn't gone full-gonzo anti-Trump, which means the "The Spew View" has not extended any invitations to their table. So, what else is a soon-to-be retired politician to do but go on YouTube and start her own channel?

In February, Mace did a tell-all with POLITICO, where she revealed that she has sleeves of tattoos on her arms that were applied "in rapid succession."

Mace is a 48-year-old twice-divorced mother of two. She often walks with a gun. She sometimes shops in a wig. She always sleeps (the little she sleeps) under a 20-pound heavy blanket she thinks isn’t heavy enough. She says she does what she does because of “an engine” that she “can’t control” and that “just f**king goes” and is “going to go and go and go.” She says she gets the tattoos that she gets because of “the pain that I need to feel.”

Apparently that article was forgotten because 1) it's an election year; 2) she was the biggest loser. So, on Sunday, in Mace's first episode of her "Get Maced" podcast, she decided to reveal her tattoos to the online world.

Apparently, social media went from "not caring" to "not again?!" Despite seeing the twilight of her current political career, Mace is not content to go gently into that good night. This latest media stunt appears to be another "Look at me!" moment.

As per usual, the internet did its thing, and it was not kind. Some commenters found her reinvention from politician to podcaster hilarious.

Others requested that Mace seek help. Ben Shapiro led off his podcast with that.

As did Sabrina the LionHearted.

How to say you have mental issues without saying you have mental issues.....

Nancy Mace, a 48-year old sitting member of Congress, admitted she got multiple tattoos because they provided her "the pain that I needed to feel."

People aren't grown ups anymore. 😔

That's not rebellious.

That's not self-expression.

That's a grown adult using self-inflicted pain to feel something because she never learned how to process emotions like an adult.

Be well, Nancy Mace. 🙏

Fox News' Raymond Arroyo suggested she actually pray for divine help rather than tattoo an icon on her arm.

Then there are those two little words: "Midlife Crisis," that hold volumes in terms of meaning.

While some of Mace's stances, like calling out the transgender cult and their agenda, are commendable, a good part of her congressional career has been throwing rhetorical Molotov cocktails and casting shade. Both get attention, if not the results one expects.

As was the result of Mace baring her soul by baring her tattooed arms. On Tuesday, Mace posted to X to respond to her detractors, making the claim that there are more important things to worry about than her biceps.

Then why is Mace intent on posting them rather than talking about how she would like to end her congressional term? Mace's biceps would never have been a news story if she had not made them one.

Erik Telford agrees.

Our Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar points to the obvious doubling down on her first cry for attention.

As does BowTied Ranger.

Bingo. While one can empathize with going through midlife and the need to reinvent, instead of inviting the public on these particular journeys, Mace has dragged us kicking and screaming down a gravel path. Maybe we wouldn't mind so much if it were a journey worth taking; this one appears to be the same as her past detours: theatrics lacking a script.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
