Trump Administration Refocuses Useless And Vapid Program On Stopping Islamic Terrorism

One of the biggest scams attempted by the federal government under Obama was trying to whitewash Islamic terrorism by claiming that other… read “white American”… violent extremists were a larger threat. This would have been hilarious had it not resulted in a few dozen Americans killed by real terrorists, terrorists who were looked at by the FBI then dismissed because prosecuting them would have seemed unfair to Muslims. In fact, it became quite obvious that given the choice between offending CAIR and investigating a slaughter at an Orlando night club, the FBI would rather investigate the murders every time. Bullshi** studies were concocted and promoted which purported to show that most terror attacks were by non-Islamic terrorists. Indeed when the FBI rolled out its website on “violent extremism” there was a significant omission:

In order to keep Democrat donations rolling in from CAIR and to avoid actually doing anything, the Department of Homeland Security came up with a program called “Countering Violent Extremism.” As near as I can tell its purpose consisted of giving money to groups that were possibly terror front organizations and expecting them to fight Islamic extremism. No grants have actually been awarded and there are signs that Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly might just cancel the grant awards altogether.

Now reality has come home to roost:

The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.

The program, “Countering Violent Extremism,” or CVE, would be changed to “Countering Islamic Extremism” or “Countering Radical Islamic Extremism,” the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.

Such a change would reflect Trump’s election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase “radical Islam” in describing it. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries.

Hoda Hawa, director of policy for the Muslim Public Affairs Council, said she was told last week by people within DHS that there was a push to refocus the CVE effort from tackling all violent ideology to only Islamist extremism.

“That is concerning for us because they are targeting a faith group and casting it under a net of suspicion,” she said.

Of course she said that.

The Trump administration is exactly right in this. I’d be willing to bet very good money that there are no grantees focused on fighting crimes by the Klan (which is more of a beer drinking club these days) or white supremacists or “sovereign citizens” for the primary reason that the latter two categories don’t really join a lot of groups that aren’t explicitly their group. Islamic extremists, to the contrary, all have a single membership in common, they all belong to a mosque. What is more obvious is that relying on Muslims to root out Islamic extremism is a strategy that has failed nearly 100% of the times it has been tried. (read here | here | here). All the Obama program is is an attempt to forestall terror attacks by handing out large sums of money. It needs to end.
