Screw him. Really. Just screw him.

Donald Trump was in my home county over the weekend, tossing bullsh** and generally embarrassing himself and setting the GOP back 50 years. But there is one useful thing that he said if he is capable of distinguishing fact from fiction… indeed, after having my brain bruised by watching his a-little-too-perfectly-coiffed git, Donald Trump, Jr., on Jake Tapper’s show I’m beginning to think that megalomania is an inherited condition.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said if he loses the Republican nomination, people shouldn’t expect him to stick around in the public eye.

“They fight like hell for six months, and they’re saying horrible things, the worst things you can imagine,” Trump said during a rally in Maryland on Sunday.

“And then one of them loses, one of them wins. And the one who loses says, ‘I just want to congratulate my opponent. He is a brilliant man, he’ll be a great governor or president or whatever,'” he said.

“I’m not sure you’re ever going to see me there. I don’t think I’m going to lose, but if I do, I don’t think you’re ever going to see me again, folks. I think I’ll go to Turnberry and play golf or something.”

Tell me, who, in their right freakin mind would want Donald Trump out on the campaign trail saying the stuff he says, cavorting with racists and conspiracy nuts, and then their campaign being held responsible for explaining the mess? And those alleged millions of new voters that he attracted? Well, maybe some of them have gotten a little bit smarter in the process an realize what kind of a fraud and charlatan Trump actually is and will decide to vote for the GOP nominee. But if they remain loyal to Trump, I hope they stay home because the republic has enough idiots voting as it is.

More to the point, yes, there are sharp elbows in political campaigns but there are rarely the outright lies, smears, and personal attacks of the type that Trump has brought to this year’s primary. When was the last time candidate running for a party’s nomination as president made fun of the looks of a rival’s wife. Heaven knows, that was fertile territory when Bill Clinton was first running. Who is hanging the nickname “Lyin’ Ted” on Senator Cruz when Donald Trump has been documented as telling 71 lies (or if not lies, totally made up facts) in a single 60-minute interview, including the time used for commercials? It is Donald Trump that has made this primary season ugly and personal and I would neither expect him to campaign for the nominee nor would I expect that if the nominee is Ted Cruz, that Cruz would want very much to do with Trump.

No it is Trump who has cheapened and debased the political discourse of this campaign to a point that no one would have dreamed possible a mere six months ago. The sooner this bloviating assclown packs his Depends and Metamucil and heads off to play golf until he drops dead the better off the nation will be.
