Leader Of Libya Attack Linked To Obama Donor

As the administration’s false narrative about the events leading up to the sacking of our consulate in Benghazi and the killing of our ambassador continues to unravel, a sordid detail has come to light.

The leader of the the attack is believed to be an alumnus of Guantanamo Bay who was released from custody via an anti-American left wing group headed by an Obama donor.

First, the terrorist: Abu Sufian bin Qumu.

Bin Qumu, according to his Guantanamo file, was picked up in Pakistan in early 2002 after being identified by the Libyan government (that would be the same government we helped jihaidsts overthrow) as an al Qaeda operative. He arrived at Guantanamo in May 2002. He had extensive links to a wide variety of islamist terrorist groups, including the men directly responsible for 9/11.

In the aftermath of last week’s attacks he was identified by US intelligence sources as being a leader, if not the leader, of the group that attacked our consulate.

Sufyan Ben Qumu is thought to have been involved and even may have led the attack, Fox News’ intelligence sources said. Qumu, a Libyan, was released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2007 and transferred into Libyan custody on the condition he be kept in jail. He was released by the Qaddafi regime as part of its reconciliation effort with Islamists in 2008.

Even though the US military recommended he remain in custody, the far left and wildly misnamed Center For Constitutional Rights took on bin Qumu as a client and worked to get him released. They were successful and in 2007 he was returned to Libyan custody. He was released from prison as Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi tried to mend fences with radical islamists.

When next we hear of Mr. bin Qumu it is in a press release issued by the CCR protesting that the New York Times had identified their man as a recidivist when he was in fact as innocent as a newborn babe and had even helped overthrow the Gaddafi regime.

For example, the Times lists five Russian men as being recidivists when not even the DOD continues to include them since they were tortured on their return to Russia (as documented by Human Rights Watch). A Center for Constitutional Rights client, Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda bin Qumu, is also listed as a recidivist, when in fact he was jailed on his return to Libya and is now allegedly fighting with the U.S.-supported rebels…

The head of the CCR when bin Qumu was released was Michael Ratner. Ratner endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 and he contributed $2,300 to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and Ratner remains “President Emeritus” of the CCR.

One hopes he is still as happy with being responsible for the hundreds of terrorists returned to battlefields throughout the world as a direct result of his actions as he was when crowing about it at Huffington Post.
