Senator John Kennedy Levels Reporter Who Gushed Over Charlie Kirk Assassin's ‘Loving’ Messages

It's remarkable, really, when you consider the media spends a good chunk of their time dehumanizing people like President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and some of their friends ... like Charlie Kirk. But then finds an assassin to be a romantic figure to be admired.

This wasn't about finding out any truths for Durbin.

Chicago Continues to Roil From Crime, While Memphis Welcomes the National Guard With a Warm Meal

It's a stark contrast, and we have yet to see how the Memphis intervention will change the landscape. But if the shift is as dramatic as D.C., then Pritzker and Johnson may wind up eating crow in the long run.

Sandy Hook Survivor's Daughter Makes Admission that Damns Media

Yes, there's a problem, but when you bombard people with the problem and pretend gun control is the only solution, it's not hard to imagine that some of them are just going to start shrugging when terrible things happen, especially to people they didn't like in the first place.

Charlie Kirk's Impact Is Much Larger Than I Expected

This is a moment to reach out to people who are opening their eyes to the lust for blood that is all-too-common on the left. We should hold our vigils, pray proudly and publicly, and chastise those who deserve to be.

Horatius Cocles, Meet Kash Patel

Although his words are his sword, Patel is doing what Horatius did: buying time, holding the line, and keeping America from being placed in greater danger by a recklessly left-wing movement determined to break through.

White House What's Up

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania pay a visit to Windsor Castle, where they'll participate in a private luncheon with King Charles. Later, they'll head to St. George's Chapel and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II. After that, they'll return to Windsor Castle, where they'll take in a musical performance of "Beating Retreat" before participating in a state banquet, followed by a post-dinner program.

Also on Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance will visit a precision metal stamping facility in Howell, Michigan, where he will deliver remarks on President Trump’s tax cuts for working families and businesses.

I finally — finally! — got my round-up of recent court decisions done:

A kind reader just made a very helpful suggestion in relation to my court-related summaries for including green up-arrows and red down-arrows alongside each decision as a quick shorthand to signal whether it's a win or loss for the administration — I'm going to work on that.

And no worries, there will be plenty more to come.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Look for more news out of President Trump's meeting with the Windsors and later, his meeting(s) with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

MORNING MUSING

I'm hardly the first to observe this, but we live in two different (maybe multiple different) realities from our fellow Americans. Nothing has underscored that more than the Charlie Kirk assassination. I originally had dinner plans with a dear friend last Wednesday evening. As the afternoon wore on and it became clear I was needed here, I asked for a rain check and explained why. At that point, she was not familiar with him. She is now, though largely from left-leaning sources, so I suspect her perspective on the man is quite different from mine. The good news is that I'm confident we stand in the same place on his not deserving an assassin's bullet in any way, shape, or form.

A different friend shared a Facebook "story" relating a similar scenario, where two friends of differing viewpoints each only knew one facet of Kirk and his beliefs/commentary. I say "story" because I tried to run down the original version/author to find out more about them, and had no luck. I have a touch of skepticism as to the organic/genuine nature of the story, but leaving that aside, it was told from the perspective of someone with a dim view of Kirk conversing with a friend who held a very positive view of him, and each coming to realize they didn't have the whole picture.

The larger point there, of course, was of the pitfalls of information silos. Along with the blessings of the Internet and social media come the curses — the democratization of news consumption and message dissemination eases our disconnect from the common ground we share. I won't pretend to have the solution to that, but I do know it involves communion, not siloization.

I'll re-share here an observation I shared the other day on Facebook:

Sunday Morning Thoughts:

The double-edged sword of social media: It makes connecting — and disconnecting — so very easy.

It democratizes and enhances the ability to amplify one's message. Whether that's a plus or minus, of course, turns on the content of the message.

The share feature is lovely and convenient. But then...when we share information that is inaccurate simply because it validates our preconceived notion(s), we help perpetuate the inaccuracy and further invite misunderstanding.

A lot of questions swirling about what can be done/what can we (as individuals) do to help make things better? Some suggestions:

- Listen more

- Give grace

- Try to vet information for accuracy before sharing (understanding the distinction between fact and opinion)

- And perhaps most importantly, pursue relationships with friends and family outside of social media

Memes and hot takes can be entertaining, but they're no substitute for honest-to-goodness communication and communion.

LIGHTER FARE

I bet you didn't know you needed a baby elephant sliding down a hill in your feed...but you did.
