Jamie Raskin Is Going to Have a Tough Time Getting Off the Mat After This Trump Roundhouse

President Trump took to his Truth Social media platform to lambaste Raskin for not knowing what he was talking about regarding the bill, and really, in general.

Democrats Try to Block Info About Something They Swear Isn't Happening... Again

So the thing that Democrats say isn't happening is proudly happening in states, but they don't want the DHS to look into it despite the fact that it's apparently not happening... even though they're openly doing it.

Unreal: NBC Reporter Whines That Illegals at Alligator Alcatraz Might Get Injured If They Try to Escape

So, we're just supposed to be okay with letting these criminals walk? Would the facility be more to your liking, Julia, if it were surrounded by beds of roses? It only becomes 'punitive' when the detainee tries to escape and avoid going through their immigration proceedings.

Rolling Stone Unintentionally Gives Masterclass In Media Bias

On every level, this particular piece is a gross misrepresentation of the facts, leaving out anything that's inconvenient, cherry-picking "experts" who will give them the line they want to hear, and pretending that this is what unbiased journalism looks like.

WSJ: Is Harvard's Endowment a House of Cards?

One can see where this could go south, really quickly. These valuations are more of an art than a science, and maybe bad art at that.

Mamdani Thinks NYC Has the Money for Low-Cost Grocery Stores Because He Made This BIG Error

Thus the Man Who Would Kill NewYork “is planning to pay for his grocery stores with money that doesn’t exist.” At last: true socialism!

Why the One Republican Who Voted Against Advancing the Reconciliation Bill Looks Really Dumb Right Now

He was willing to set fire to all of that, all of President Trump and the GOP’s top domestic action items over Ukraine war funding. I’m not kidding.

SWING AND A MISS! Hakeem Jeffries Generates a Meme Storm Trying to Look Tough With a Baseball Bat

What exactly was Jeffries planning on doing with his munchkin bat? Kneecap Speaker Mike Johnson?

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

No hearings, no meetings, just the House attempting to wrap things up on the One Big Beautiful Bill (which it will always be called, no matter what Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says). When/if Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) ever gets done speaking, the OBBB will go to a vote (and, presumably, eventually, pass). Assuming it does (and I think that's a fair assumption), once more, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) should get a nod for hanging tough and getting those cats herded. (Having President Donald Trump firmly in his camp helps, but Johnson deserves credit here, too.)

White House What's Up

Speaking of President Trump, he'll receive his intelligence briefing late Thursday morning, and then he and First Lady Melania are set to meet with freed American hostage Edan Alexander. After that, the president heads to Des Moines, Iowa, to participate in the Salute to America Celebration, before returning to the White House late Thursday night.

Full Court Press...

We had a rather stunning decision out of the D.C. District Court on Wednesday, as Judge Randolph Moss granted class certification to a wide swath of those seeking entry into the U.S. and vacated Trump's executive order limiting asylum claims at the border.

Moss acknowledged the Supreme Court's recent ruling in CASA v. Trump but sidestepped the restriction on nationwide injunctions by going the class certification route. The administration has already appealed his ruling to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and, should that court not stay Moss's ruling, we can expect an application for stay to be filed with the Supreme Court in short order.

Also on Wednesday, Sean "Diddy" Combs was found guilty on only two of the five charges for which he was being prosecuted (and the two least serious of the bunch), but the judge denied his release pending sentencing.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

There will be plenty of Fourth of July fun as the U.S. begins gearing up for its big 250th birthday celebration in 2026.

Next week, President Trump will welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House.

MORNING MUSING

Frank Sinatra's "In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning" may be a bittersweet lament about missing the one you love, but oddly enough, it came to mind as I thought about House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY). No, I don't pine for "Temu Obama." Mostly, I find him annoying and uninspiring. (Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), for all her faults, at least has — or had — steely grit.)

However, I was awakened today —  in the wee, small hours of the morning — by the not-so-dulcet tones of Jeffries' voice. I'll confess that, at first, I was mildly alarmed to hear a man's voice in my apartment in the middle of the night, but only momentarily, as I quickly realized the voice was coming from my laptop. I'd been watching the House Floor proceedings live since Wednesday morning, and I still had that tab open when I went to bed.

At that point, there were five Republican no votes on the passage of the rule (to get to the point where they could vote on the actual OBBB), and there were several other Republicans (including my own Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO)) who had yet to commit. I figured they'd eventually come around — and they did, with all but one Republican (Pennsylvania's Brian Fitzpatrick) ultimately voting yes on the rule. At roughly 3:23 AM Eastern.

I was still asleep for that, but then the debate on H.R. 1 (OBBB) started, and following the allotted hour, Jeffries was afforded his "Magic Minute," which, as I write this, is still going on, several hours later. (I have him muted at the moment, but every time I go to check, he's still there, enjoying his mini-filibuster. A couple of times, I've seen his colleagues standing and clapping wildly behind him and thought he was about to wrap it up. Alas...not yet — at least not as of 8:27 AM Eastern.)

Anyhoo, such are the adventures of a political junkie and editor/writer: There will be times when you're awakened in the wee small hours of the morning by the sounds of Congress critters and their grandstanding. The blessing in all of this? Once they do finally get this thing done and over to the president's desk (because I do expect they'll get there), they'll all fly off for their Fourth of July celebrations, and we'll catch a break from them for a few days.
